Tacky British Holiday Camps
« on: July 23, 2011, 10:14:46 pm »
well, i've never been much of a traveller. and as mrs. triple-6 can't fly (looooong story) and i have a hyperactive 2 year old and 2 stroppy teenage step-sons to entertain nowadays, we did the unthinkable today and looked into going to a british holiday camp.  (  :-[ )

just wondering if anyone knew which one(s) is/are any good in 2011? i have many fond memories of Butlins minehead as a kid... zero experience of Pontins and my work days at Haven have scarred me forever... just wondering if anyone here (and i know there's only a scarce few of you left now) had actually visited one in recent years. (i know this is extremely uncool and everybody is into going abroad these days, but hey - that's how we roll.)

so come on, peeps! where should i go? Butlins, Pontins or Haven (or none of the above.) i'm mainly looking for some kind of entertainment for all of our ages. opinions would be appreciated.  ;D

I haven't been to a holiday camp for forty-odd years. I went to Pontins in Osmington Bay with my then boyfriend. It was good value and it's great for kids (although I didn't have any then!). I think they have brought the entertainment up to date in recent years.
Old but spicey!

pontins these days is generally a lot cheaper than the others... but i figured that was for a reason.
