i used to go to sunday school many moons ago. i really loved it at first - though i was never overly religious. then one day i suddenly decided i hated it, and sat screaming in the car as my mum tried to pull me inside. i never went back again.

My husband's parents used to send him and his brothers to Sunday school so they could get some 'peace and quiet'.

I went to Sunday School from babyhood and graduated from babies, to toddlers to kiddies and then to teens! I hasve very happy memories of Sunday School parties and picnics in the summer.

I never went to Sunday School.  I went to church every sunday to the age of 15 though.

Talking of 'parents or carers' reminded me of something a reception teacher friend told me the other day.  At the end of the day, the reception children all have to stay in the playground with her until they can see the person who has come to collect them, when they are permitted to leave.  Up until a few years ago it was a chorus of, "I can see my mummy," with the occasional "daddy".  Now it's all, "I can see my childminder", "I can see the au pair", etc etc.  She says she only ever sees the parents at the special parents' days, if then.  Quite sad I think, but an inevitable sign of the times.
