This was arguably the most significant event in World Politics since the Bay of Pigs. It's certainly the most significant development in Black culture since the abolition of slavery. It's significance to all Afro-Europeans can hardly be exaggerated. It marks the end of an era and could almost be considered symbolically as the ultimate emancipation of the black American. Not 50 years ago, Obama would have had to have given up his seat to a white man in some states of the USA.
