Man sells life on ebay
« on: March 18, 2008, 09:37:14 pm »

A PERTH man whose marriage failed six years after he emigrated from Britain is putting his entire life up for auction on the internet.

Ian Usher, 44, is offering his three-bedroom house in the Perth suburb of Wellard, his car and job on auction website eBay after his five-year marriage to wife Laura ended last year.

Usher said his life in Australia "is absolutely fantastic'' and all his possessions reminded him of the "wonderful'' past he shared with his wife.

But the auction was the quickest and least emotionally draining way to make a fresh start.

"I am selling everything lock, stock and barrel, from the contents of my wardrobe to my kettle, and from my cutlery to my car,'' Usher told The Northern Echo, a local newspaper near his former home in north-east England.

"My aim is to walk away at the end of the eBay auction with my wallet in one pocket and my passport in the other, go to the airport and just jump on the first available plane to anywhere.''
Bids will start at just one Australian dollar, but Usher is hoping to pocket about $500,000 from the sale of his "life package''.

Oh, how very sad. The poor man.
That is an incredibly precarious position to be in.

I do hope he makes enough money for the kind of fresh start he is hoping for.
