English people will have to pay another 25p per prescription for their medication. Meanwhile, in Wales, they get them free. Whatever happened to equal opportunities?

Morrisons sell big packs of aspirin for 19p.  I'm not sure what they contain but I reckon they will do the job.LOL

My husband is on a lot of medication for life. He has two types of tablets for his heart plus statins.  He used to get it three-monthly, paying seven pounds per item. Now he's been told he must get it monthly - trippling the cost. It makes me sick because his brother, who is too lazy to work and pretends to be ill to get incapacity benefit, pays nothing. he gets everything free.  Angry

I get my medication 3 monthly still, too.

I think this may all be a ploy to get all the English to move to Wales.
After all everyone knows how much love the Welsh feel for the English. LOL

I've always wondered why this inequality exists. Imagine the uproar if the Welsh had to pay and we didn't!

My dad is in a similar situation to your husband Oldspice. Luckily he was in a medicare scheme that means he gets his prescriptions free - otherwise the expense would be ridiculous.

There is talk of scrapping parking charges at hospitals in Wales too now.

Goodness only knows where they intend to get their funding from now. I can only think that they have decided that they are not going to get sick any more, and so aren't going to need it.

Doesn't it make you mad - being white, middle class and working? Or should I consider myself lucky? I can't tell whether I'm a mug or a very healthy and lucky individual these days!

I know exactly what you mean Oldspice - it doesn't seem fair sometimes.
And back to the prescription charges - I've probably said it before but I've never understood why diabetics get all theirs free (quite right too) but other essential medication such as asthma inhalers has to be paid for.

My partner's sister has a thyroid problem (which makes her fat) and she has to pay prescription charges whereas if she had the opposite thyroid problem (the one which makes you thin) the medication is free.

That's discrimination.
And it's disgusting!
