It will actually be better for Rhydian that he didn't win. He'd have had to record a pop album and it wouldn't have suited his voice or style. Now he's had great exposure and is almost guaranteed to be offered a record deal or a West End show.

That's very true. I thought his performance of 'There's a Place For Us' was one of the best I've heard.

Having said that, I think Leon's range is a bit limited. He seems brilliant at the swing-style songs which are very popular just now, but how long will that last? I thought he was very weak when singing mainstream stuff.

Thank God that Same Difference won't be inflicted on us again! They could go straight into a pantomime or a tiny tots programme.

Did anyone else think their relationship came across as slightly unwholesome?

No but I did think Rhydian looked creepy when those kids were singing around him. Nice to see he got his roots done for the final though.

Yes, there was something slightly incestuous about them. Mind you, apparently after one of the performances Dermot gave the girl a kiss, then he gave the brother a kiss as a joke, and he punched the air in delight...

Who thought Kylie looked a right state when she sang with Leon?

Yes, several - people have made that comment at work. Also, when she appeared on Strictly Come Dancing she had a perculiar dress on that made her look like a fancy lamp shade. Who on earth is dressing her??

I hate to say it as I love Kylie, but she's looked a bit mutton dressed as lamb the last couple of times I've seen her.

I think the song they chose for the winning single is a disaster. It was a bland song when Whitney and Mariah did it, and when two singers of that standard can't bring it to life, what hope does a Scottish shop assistant have?

I didn't see the end of the programme so I don't know what the song is. Tell me it's not 'I will always love you' for God's sake.

It's 'When You Believe'. It was originally recorded as the theme to a Disney film, 'The Prince of Egypt', by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.

Oh God, not Disney, Whitney and Carey in one fell swoop - that's just too much!
