Woman fined for dropping apple core

A woman in Nottinghamshire has been fined 75 on the spot for dropping a half eaten apple.  The County Council park keeper said it would attract rats.  This sounds like another way of raising funds from ludicrous fines.  I would have refused to pay and taken it to court as a test case.  How can you attract rats in a park?  The place will be full of them anyway - it's outside!!!

There was also a 2 year old child who dropped 2 crisps and her mum was fined 30 for not picking them up.

 

Crawley council win this week's award, for their remarkably prat like behaviour recently over the dropping of two crisps (chips for my American readers) on the pavement (sidewalk).

Aside from the obvious fact that two crisps are very small, and indeed biodegradable, the story has added prat qualities in that the council fined the person who dropped the two crisps 80.

TRUE STORY: i was once ripping up a loaf of bread and throwing it to the birds, and a police car pulled up and threatened to arrest me for littering! i stood my ground and after about half an hour they backed down. good old police force. dontcha just love 'em?
