Hi Woky - welcome to the forum!  Golden Cups were made by Mackintosh - later Rowntree Mackintosh.  They were available as both a small dome-shaped bar or as a larger conventional bar in squares.  Both consisted of delicious soft toffee covered in chocolate.  Don't know of any pictures of wrappers though!

And here's an extract from the 'History of Rowntree' on the Nestle website but it doesn't say very much.

  • 1967 - Golden Cup is introduced.
  • 1968 - Matchmakers is introduced.
  • 1969 - Rowntree & Co Ltd and John Mackintosh & Sons Ltd become Rowntree Mackintosh Ltd.

We think it died out in around 1991 when Nestle took over Rowntree.

The smaller ' Dog Bone ' shaped bar was far preferable to the chunkier 'Standard' type one.

I always thought the same.  And sadly they died out first!

God yes, those little bars were heaven!

Of course, Makintosh also made Toffee Crisp and Caramac. Both of these are still around but neither taste anything like their originals from the 60s and 70s.
    Old but spicey!
