Kaboom!
« on: February 28, 2007, 10:33:27 am »

Sometimes I amaze myself at the stupid things I do!

Yesterday I surpassed myself. I blew myself up, with the aid of my gas cooker!

I turned on the gas and forgot to light it. about 5 mins later  my sister, who happended to be around for a cuppa, Mentioned she could smell gas. Realising what I had done I immediately lit a match and opened the oven door to light it. KABOOM! I have never had such a scary experience. I was engulfed by a flame ball. I have managed to singe my eyelashes, eyebrows and I have lost about half an inch circumfrence around my hairline, down to the  scalp. Luckily my hair was tied back, as it is long and most certainly it would have caught light. In truth I had a real near miss from something a lot more serious.

This morning when I was thinking it through I remembered that yesterday a make up compact fell out of my bedroom window following a gust of wind. The mirror inside shattered. At work I joked about 7 years bad luck and felt it couldn't be heading my way as I wasn't in the room at the time. Maybe I was wrong ..... Oh I really hope not!

That's weird because yesterday I had a similar experience but nowhere near as serious.  One of my gas rings wouldn't light so I was fiddling about it and ended up igniting it with the gas turned on full, while bending right over the thing.  I also got the 'Kaboom' effect,  jumped backwards and thanked my lucky stars that it didn't catch my hair which is long and wasn't tied back.  Totally stupid.

I'm very glad to hear you're basically ok though SM, that could have been REALLY serious.

I am very happy to hear that you are alright. It is awful when you realise how often we all do things like that without thinking, and how terrible the consequences could be.

I would forget about the curse if I were you. Bad luck cannot be heading your way since you were very lucky to have come out of this incident unhurt.

Stay lucky.

Glad you are okay SM. This makes me more glad than ever that I live somewhere all-electric!
Who needs karma when you know you're great already?
