BLACK
              PUDDING WITHOUT THE OINK!

There's
been something missing from the veggie version of the great British
breakfast - veggie sausage, veggie bacon - but no black pudding!
Now all that has changed and vegetarians can celebrate the arrival
of the V PUD - the revolutionary
vegetarian black pudding and the only one of its kind across the
land. Andrew Holt, creator of the V PUD and the proprietor of The
Real Lancashire Black Pudding Co identified the gap in the market
and felt that vegetarians and people on special diets alike were
missing out on the gastronomic delight of this traditional Lancashire
product, so he set about creating a meat-free version replicating
              the traditional texture and flavour.

I suppose this is a step forward for veggie equality, but to me it still sounds

It baffles me why someone would want to eat something that tastes similar to something made from pigs blood and intestines

I think the concept is flawed.  If it is vegetarian it's not Black Pudding.  This is just a way of trying to convince veggies that they can enjoy meat without the blood and death.  There's nothing wrong with being a veggie, why eat ersatz meat products?

I've been vegetarian for 20 years and I've never been a fan of these imitation meat products. As far as I'm concerned, veg should look and taste like veg.

Yes but for people who grow up on meat, enjoy the taste, but want to convert to being vegetarian for ethical reasosns they are a helpful way to do so.

Oh I agree, I'm not saying they shouldn't be made - I just personally don't find them appealing. A friend of mine who is supposedly vegetarian (but actually eats chicken) tried to get me to eat this sliced meat substitute called 'chicken style'. I'm sorry, but for me chicken should be chicken; chicken 'style' sounds revolting. I shudder to think what's in it.

I've seen it in Holland and Barrett along with veggie style ham, dairy free cheese, and even porkless pies.
