It’s Friday, the week is over...

Picky knickers returns.

Since Monday-Friday is the 'working week' and Saturday and Sunday the weekEND, I have always considered Friday the end of the week.

Well, i have to admit that as a child I was told and believed that Sunday was the first day of the week but I consider it an important part of the weekend and Monday is the begining of the week for me.

Quote from: bounty hunter
I thought everyone knew that Sunday was the first day of the week.

Bollocks. I thought you were a Christian Bounty! Doesn't your precious bible say the seventh day was the day of rest? Meaning Sunday? Therefore making it the end of the week? But then again I suppose most Christians pick and choose what they want to believe from that tissue of lies.

Sorry Smurfy, remember that Jesus was a jew and their Sabbath is Saturday. The seventh day of the week referred to in the Bible is Saturday. However,  Sunday was chosen by Christians as their Sabbath as it was the day Jesus rose from the dead. Resserection means a new begining so from a religious point of view, Sunday is day one but from a practical viewpoint it is the end of the week.

Luckily we live in an increasingly secular society, so I can happily ignore irrelevant religious toss.

Of course. It is also part of living in a democracy. Treasure it. If some people have their way we will be off the streets and praying by force on a Friday evening.

Very true. Unfortunately atheists are already in a similar position in this country. If I was a witness in a court case I would be expected to swear on the bible, which has less spiritual significance for me than the 1987 Whizzer and Chips annual. It's also a nightmare trying to avoid religion when you die. I've had it written into my will that I want no mention of God or Christianity at my funeral.

How sad.  Fortunately although you have abandoned God he hasn't abandoned you.  You have 80 - 100 years hopefully to find God.  God has an eternity to find you so you should be OK.

But I don't want to be found. I am very happy to take responsibility for my own life.
