Kitkat Editions to be revamped
« on: August 16, 2006, 01:51:27 pm »
From: http://www.rethinkpink.com/latest+news.asp

It
is understood the Kit Kat editions range will be relaunched with a new
shape that enables the consumer to break it into little squares rather
than eat it whole. It will also be launching new flavours in an attempt
to appeal to female consumers. The range has failed to live up to
expectations and was relaunched at the start of this year.

The Kit Kat brand will be repackaged in "foil fresh" packaging, a metallic wrapper that aims to keep the products fresh.

Insiders
say the revamp was due at the start of the year but that the new
management team decided to delay until it has the right product
development and campaign.

      Nestle
denies that sales of the brand have been struggling and says that sales
of its Kit Kat four-finger were up 16% for the 26 weeks to July 1. But
insiders point out that sales have significantly dipped in recent years
and that the increase has not returned it to its former level of sales.

I thought it was being dropped altogether, but if it means we get to keep the berry ones I'll be happy.

I was thinking that too. Maybe they will just be the same as the Kitkat Temptations.

They need to focus on quality. The berry filling was very nice but the chocolate was terrible. People were very brand loyal to KitKat when it was a Rowntrees product because the quality was excellent and the bar was delicious. Nestle down-graded the quality of the chocolate and expected to get the same brand loyalty just because they added a few new flavours. When that didn't happen they went a bit mad with diversity and lot site of the product altogether. I have no faith at all in the product now and avoid it altogether.
Old but spicey!

Nestle are apparently changing the recipe for 4 finger Kitkats and
making the chocolate on them thicker. Still not tempted, oldspice?

I e the kitkat editions where just look
liked the Normal kit kat chucky so, just a flee sucking off profit of a Recognised
brand instead of doing a proper launch of a New type of sweet, so people though
own it’s a novelty!  So who cares there
not a proper sweet!

Rowntrees haven't existed as an independent company in 15 years. However, the brand name has been retained for the sweets range (Jelly Tots, Fruit Pastilles, Fruit Gums).
