Private courier companies - although they charge quite a lot. They are better value when sdending parcels.

Actually, if you are sending a single item like a card, 44p is not a great deal of money if it gets delivered on time. It's only when you have to send 100 Christmas cards that it gets expensive. And my daughter's car insurance took 7 DAYS to arrive even though it was sent first class. That's terrible.

You can send things through Parcel Force or similar, but in the past only if it cost over £1 to send.

City Link, TNT and Business Post charge around £5.35 for each parcel which is really good if you are sending lots of big items that royal mail would charge £5 and over for and the private couriers obtain signatures for each delivery. It doesn't work out good for small packages though.
