Protests against cuts
« on: October 24, 2010, 09:11:45 am »
I was marching in Cambridge yesterday to protest against the loss of half a million public sector jobs and the savage cuts to services inflicted on us by this vicious coalition.

Do not believe the rubbish they preach about the huge deficit. It is an attempt to convince the nation to accept these cuts.

Don't you all work hard enough? Why should you work harder and for longer whilst a cabinet full of millionaires store up furthjer treasure in off-shore accounts? Why should puiblic sector workers accept a two year pay freeze whilst greedy bankers award themselves another huge bonus?

I don't want to turn this post into political lobbying but would be interested in a sensible debate. Who's going to start....?

Not me!  Apparently my job can be done just as easily and well by a totally unqualified and inexperienced volunteer....

My major issue with public service job cuts is that jobs for those made redundant will have to be found elsewhere. A supposedly huge reduction in the wage budget isn't that huge when you consider a massive percentage of those made jobless will be going on to benefits, paid out from the same public purse the government is supposedly trying to protect. Also when the government makes drastic spending cuts, that means they're spending less with the private sector, reducing a valuable source of income for many companies and therefore damaging their ability to create new jobs.
Who needs karma when you know you're great already?

The ConDemNation are going to destroy this country!  My wife, who is disabled with ME, relies on her benefits, but next year that looks to change.  Apparently, my part time wages will pay for the both of us.  Really?  Since when?  Thanks David and Nick, but no thanks.

Even though we had to bail out several banks - their executives still got big fat bonuses. One of them walked away with a pension worth £750 000 per year - and that was for making a balls up of it!

That's hardcore capitalism for you.  The rich get richer and the poor, well, you get my drift...
