Who can remember a Masterfoods bar called "Aztec"?  Someone was talking about them yesterday and it sounds familiar but can't be sure....

It was a Cadbury's bar. It was first launched in about 1970 and was supposed to be Cadbury's answer to Mars Bar with a nougatly centre and caramel/chocolate topping.  It disappeared about five years later, only to re-appear in 2000 then go again!

It was good when it reappeared, but I don't think it was ever intended as anything more than a retro blast, and even then the Aztec 2000 was slightly different to the original version.

Someone was selling an Aztec 2000 bar on ebay just a month or so ago.

An actual bar,not just the wrapper!.

Needless to say, they did put a dont eat warning in their listing....lol

I've actually seen Marathon bars on eBay - they must be at least 15 years old!
Who needs karma when you know you're great already?

The Aztec seems to be Cadbury's embarrassing relative. Until a couple of years ago they showed ONE wrapper in the advertising section at Cadburyworld. And now... nothing at all. Perhaps it's buggered off to Poland with the rest of their manufacturing facilities.

Granted, Aztec might have been Cadbury's desperate "me too!" attempt at a Mars bar, but they were still pretty good with a nice chewy malty hit, and I can't see why they're so ashamed.

Rant over.
