It's naughty, but so much fun. On Christmas Eve we went to see my cousin and her neighbours, who we also know, came over. Going back I had only been in the car five seconds before I had to say it - I just couldn't help it! 'Hasn't Sally put weight on?'

My mother's reply? 'I thought that - and what was the matter with her hair?' My dad burst out laughing and said we were total bitches. The best bit was I'd been thinking exactly the same thing about her hair!

I think men can be bitchier than women. You should hear some of the things said in our office!

Someone in the office next door had a birthday this week and kept telling everyone she had a 'special' birthday coming up. We put up ballons and messages saying 'Nancy is 60 today' everywhere.

She was 50.

One of my friends from the gym moved to London last summer because he was 'pushing the big 3-0 and re-assessing things'. I sort of nodded in agreement when he asked 'how did you feel on your 30th birthday?'

I was not amused.  Neither was he when I pointed out my 30th birthday was over four years away!

My hairdresser is the biggest bitch alive. He will fold the corners on pages of OK and Hello to remind to show me pics of people and says things like 'what the hell does she think she looks like', 'does she own a full length mirror', 'did she look in the mirror before she left home', and his fave is 'she only married him for his money'

Does anyone know any male hairdressers who are not gay?

Yes, one or two, yet they still seem quite camp. This bloke cutting my hair once was chatting away and we were both moaning about having to live with our parents. My reason was because I was waiting for the purchase of my house to go through. He said he was back with his parents because his girlfriend had chucked him out! I nearly choked on my complimentary coffee.

I do know a few male hairdressers with wives and children. But if they don't tell me about their families I always assume they are gay.

That Nicky Clarke has a weird relationship with his wife. They are still married yet live in seperate houses but in the same street. I seen  a documentary about them. He had his salons and she bought out some skin care range. She was a total bitch to him.

I know some famous male hairdressers are not gay but those that work in the little back street or high street places always seem very camp. And at our college, where only 1 in twenty or so trainee hairdressers are male, they always look and sound gay. Not that I'm bothered, it's just that gay male hairdressers always seem to be bitchy.
