Cherry Mash
« on: July 21, 2005, 02:30:51 pm »

Has anyone been to the USA and had one of these? They have a chocolate-coated peanut crunchy coating with a liquid cherry and cherry sauce centre. They are a very old-established product but only available in some states.

I would be interested to hear if anyone has tried one.

Does everything in the USA have to contain peanuts?

I've heard of these, but haven't tried them or seen them. I'll keep an eye out because they sound good - I love cherry and chocolate combos. Anything else you want me to look for while I'm still here, Oldspice?

And no, not everything in the USA contains peanuts

I have tried the Cherry Mash not long ago. I found it to be ok a bit hard as far as the nuts are a bit to much in it, and the cherry center is pretty stiff. I prefer a chocolate covered  cherry cordial over the cherry mash. It's also an old time candy and it's not found everywhere actually it's pretty hard to find I just happen to come across it and decided to try it cause I like chocolate and cherry together, but this just did not do it for me. I ended up throwing more than half away. Just was not real good quality and you could taste that in the product.

Thanks for that chocogirl. I like the sound of chocolate covered cherry cordial with a cherry centre. Do you have that over there? Are you in the States?

Yeah we have chocolate covered cherries here. I am in the states, but DON'T buy cherry mash. Just my opinion, but the thing was NOT good. To hard in the center, and the nuts well that just threw the whole thing off bad. It did not contrast well with the rest of the candy. The center was hard it was NOT liquid at all. If you want something good with cherry I HIGHLY suggest a nice box of chocolate covered cherry cordials they are WAYYYYY better than the cherry mash which is probably why you rarely see the cherry mash it's just no good. Thank you for the welcome

Well Cherry Mash isn't really well known but you can find them if you look hard. Its one of those chocolates that people in their 60's and 70's remember eating when they were kids. I've tried it and wasn't impressed
