I see that as well as extending the financially unfeasible "congestion charge" it appears our mayor also intends to increase the costs of buses and tubes by a rate way way over that of inflation. Again. Its got to be a wind up, Jeremy Beadle will appear any minute... surely....

It's no better in Cornwall lemoneye. The wages are very low and nobody local can afford to buy even a tiny flat to live in. The cost of water is the highest in the country. The bus fares recently increased by 60p per day despite a crap service. Now the council plans to charge us £6 to visit the beach!

My season ticket has gone up by £79 this year.

In New York a single ride anywhere on the subway is $2.00 which is roughly £1.20

It doesn't seem to make sense to have a congestion charge and increase the cost of public transport.

You know being a socialist gets me so much flack! Better things are said about kiddie fiddlers!

As a socialist I support the congestion charge on environmental grounds. Public transport should be efficient, cheap and pubically owned. All essential public services should be pubically owned.

Old but spicey!

Charging for the beach??!!!  I've always wondered how long it would take someone to come up with that one.

Apparently if you go straight into the sea they will "wave" the fee.

60p per day on my bus fare works out for me around £140 rise per year. My journey to work is approx 7 miles and takes nearly 2 hours by bus

Now I am driving and (even though I have to queue for the ferry) the journey is more like 45 minutes, plus I have not once been late or stuck in severe traffic. When I was catching the bus I was late 3 days in 5

And you are sitting in the comfort of your own car, with the radio on and some sweets in the glove box.
