Just come back from this. A good film but not in the original Star Wars league, but then what is? No outstanding performances, and the plot could have done with more development. However, it was an entertaining and absorbing film, with some good action sequences and special effects. The part where 'Darth Vader' gets his visor thingy at the end is quite dramatic and memorable.

7.5/10
But you still give it 7/10. Not that bad then?
Haven't seen it yet - next week, hopefully. When I saw the original one back in 1977, my friend and I watched it all through, went out of the cinema and immediately joined the queue to see it all over again! It's difficult to explain now why it was so different from anything that anyone had seen before but it absolutely blew me away.
Not having seen ROTS yet I should perhaps reserve judgement but generally I feel that the older viewer i.e. those who saw the original first time out have demanded too much from episodes 1 to 3 as we have preconceived notions as to how it should "feel".
If you had watched 1 to 3 without 4 to 6 never having been made there would not have been the same criticism of the later ones. Perhaps Lucas has been damned by making something so special in the first place.
Personally I liked episode one and did not find the young Anakin to be a poor actor. Lets be honest, apart from Haley Joel Osment is there any real child actors around?
If I have one criticism of this current triology it is that I do not think Hayden Christensen is a good enough actor to play Anakin well enough to allow me to emphathise with the character. Maybe 3 will change this..............

Lou Lou, I did have a big tub of Minstrels.
Very good.
Saw it tonight. Not bad at all, quite sad (obviously) really.
Hayden Christensen is still a weedy little dick though.
Oh...
I never thought of him in that way. Oh well...
