A 'new' bagged offering from Mars - caramel and nougat balls (separate, not together) covered in Mars chocolate. And if you're thinking 'hang on - isn't that just Mars Planets without the crispy bits?' you'd be absolutely right. This 'new' product is just a less varied version of an existing one - right down to the packaging, which is exactly the same apart from the name. What a swizz!!

Well, I can't say I'm surprised. Won't stop people shelling out for it, though. Has Mars Planets been discontinued?
-
According to rumours online - yes. According to the Mars website - no. But I wouldn't take the latter as gospel. I can't see the point of making both products; but then again I can't see the point of dropping one centre from the mix and changing the name either...
-
Could it be that they were finding it hard to produce the crispy ones and could not find a regular and reliable source?
-
I could understand them dropping one of the centres if they're having trouble with it, but I do think it's a bit cheeky to advertise a bag of the remaining ones as a 'new' product when it isn't really.

What about the Twix Mix

Ooh, hadn't seen that.
-
I haven't seen those either.
-
Twix Mix? Ah, the pieces begin to fall into place...
-
Oh I'm hopeless at jigsaws, the pieces are definitely not falling into place for me. Could you explain please?
-
Well, they've taken the crispy centre from Mars Planets and discontinued it, put it together with the soft centre and are calling the result Twix Mix.
-
Oh, light dawns and I feel like an absolute idiot.
I told you I was no good at jigsaws didn't I? rofl
Thanks for rescuing me... Again. :D
What on earth will you do if the day should ever come when you don't have to play white knight for me any more? lol

Didn't mean to embarrass you, but you do keep bailing me out of these awkward situations I get myself into, and I'm really grateful. :)

But Twix is made of caramel and biscuit - surely those are biscuit pieces in the Twix Mix bag, not crispy?
-
You have a point there, smurfboy.

looks like biscuit to me. :D
-
Well, they must have taken the crispy one out of Mars Planets and changed the name for some reason. What next? Snickers Mix?
-
Maybe the removal of the crispy Planet was just to enable the name change - i.e. so it would tie in with Twix Mix.
-
I guess that's what must have happened. Crafty bleeders!
-
The biscuit pieces in the Twix mix are very small and stale.
Not nice at all! >:(
-
Yuck!
