Title: New Lindt Excellence Chocolates
Post by: heather rose on September 02, 2012, 05:53:51 pm
I see quite alot of new Lindt chocolates are out now. Has anyone tries any of them? There are Lindt Excellence A Touch of Vanilla and Lindt Lindor chocolate bars. I tried the new Lindt Excellence Strawberry Intense white chocolate the other day and that was yummy. I would really appreciate your views on these chocolates.

I haven't seen any new ones but I like the bar with a liquid cherry centre.

There are 4 (I think) new Lindt Creations (special fillings) - they're not bad. Other new Lindt bars currently around are Wasabi (better than it may sound) and salted caramel. Tesco's was the best place for me to get these but you should find them in most supermarkets.

Actually there are eight new Lindt Creations: Four with deep-filled squares almost a la their filled liquer bars, and four with flatter-shaped filled squares, more akin to the manner which Double Milk is 'filled'.

The four deep-filled are Divine Hazlenut, Vanilla and Almond, Dark Orange and Luscious Caramel. I've seen all four in Tesco; certain Sainsburys also do some, though I'm not sure how many.

The Four flat-filled are Coconut, Creme Brulee, and Hazlenut Deluxe Milk and Dark versions. I've only seen these in Waitrose so far, though I bet Ocado do them too. Come to think of it, I don't recall seeing the dark version last time I went, so either they sold out at my store or god knows where I got it from.

The Four deep-filled seem much easier to aquire in 'everyday' supermarkets, though no one supermarket seems to carry the full range (typically, to increase revenue no doubt).  I wish the flat-filled ones were more prolific, but then I remeber when I lived in Oxford there were Waitroses everywhere, so I suppose it depends where one lives.

What is the current obsession with salted caramel? It sounds utterly revolting.

Salted caramel is delicious if done properly. It would be just like Lindt to bugger it up!

Just being pedantic here, but the flat filled ones are merely re-releases/updates of previously existing bars not new as far as I'm concerned (yeah they might have changed the recipes and the wrappers but it's not the same as an actually new product). I agree though they are trickier to get hold of for some reason.
Garden centres - Haskins in particular - also carry Lindt ranges, though they tend to focus on the more 'traditional' varieties.

Thanks for the clarification Chocadmin - I thought I'd been eating the Touch of Vanilla one for a long time, at least whenever it's on special offer in Sainsbury's which seems to be quite often.
I haven't had salted caramel chocolate but salted caramel cupcakes are delicious!

Hi,

Here's a book for chocolate lovers. It's called "201 Fun Chocolate Facts and Chocolate Trivia Quiz." Right now it's only for the Amazon Kindle, and I just learned that it will be free to download for 5 days starting this Saturday, October 13. You can get it here: http://bit.ly/PWmkVV (http://bit.ly/PWmkVV)

If you don't have a Kindle, you can download a reading app for your PC, tablet, or phone. I hope you can take advantage of this. Enjoy!
