I'm sorry to say this, but I will not be posting here ever again. This forum was quite an active one when I joined, although it was already showing signs of decline then. Since then, the forum has become like the Marie Celeste; where did everyone go? Even Loulou doesn't come on here much now. Is there a better chocolate forum out there or something?
There is no point in me coming here because every time I do the spam attacks have increased. It's quite obvious that ChocAdmin doesn't really care for the forum anymore. He may as well just do his own blog and disband this site completely.
So, farewell from me. It's been nice writing to everyone, but all good things must come to an end.

another one bites the dust.
-
OH dear
-
don't you think about going anywhere, 623!
-
i feel like playing a slow-dissolve video of all of dr.t's posts while the theme from The Deer Hunter plays in the background.

I am really sorry to see you go drterror. You have been here years just like me and most others. I think one reason the Forum has declined is social networks such as facebook. One of the reasons I don't come on as often as I did is because my workload has increased so much. Also - my eyesight - which as been declining for years - is now so bad that I take agwes to read everything and even longer to reply.
I think it is a bit unfair to blame Chocadmin for the spam. It is very difficult to get rid of because the spammers are finding better ways to get round firerwalls etc. For example - I got back from holiday today and found 156 spam emails in my spam filter box!
I really would hate to see the forum close as it has been so interesting chatting to a wide range of characters about something I feel passionate about. Could you consider hanging on dr?
-
spicy, i was thinking the very same thing... bloody facebook! it's true, i think the blame lies with social networking sites. people don't do forums just to chat these days... they only use forums if they need some information. it's a sad truth.
i myself will be hanging in here... it's the only forum i've ever stuck with (through thick and thin) and i hold faith that one day (soon) it shall be great once again.
where's Phyllis when you need some action, ay?

Hi wjp - thanks for that hearfelt reply. We'll be bashing away posting until we're ninety!
I am going to try to post as much as possible this weekend - although I have a mountain of washing and ironing to do after a week in Dorset and Somerset (or should I say Somerwet!)
Off to Northumberland on Monday!
-
It is indeed sad to see another long termer go.
I am partly to blame for not checking in as often as I used to (pressures of work I'm afraid). The curse of social networks is such that even I find it easier to post updates on Twitter (hence the listing on the home page). As well as the migration of users to FB the fight against the spammers actually makes it more difficult to join our forum (harder to sign up) - hence we might potentially have had more users if we let more spam in. Finding a balance is very hard.
I'm not a blogger and never really have been, I leave that to the likes of cinabar, chocablog and of course Jim's chocolate mission. I just want to provide a place for people to discuss chocolate and also to rate and review products so that we might all learn more about the current world of chocolate :-)
I wonder how Google+ will further change the way we promote and discuss chocolate. Never fear, as long as any of you want it I'll always keep the forum running.
-
keep up the good work, chocadmin! there may be only a few of us here (at the moment) but you never know what might happen in the future. as obi wan kenobi once said about the sand people: "they will be back, and in greater numbers." :-)
you in dorset recently, spicy? venture anywhere near my neck of the woods? (weymouth.)
-
I was in Tolpuddle wjp. We go to the festival most years. We spent two days in Dorset and made acquaintence with two wonderful villages called Piddletrenthide and Piddleton. We even saw a pub called the Piddle Inn! We then went on to Somerset for four days. Absolutely perfect holiday!
-
tolpuddle? well that's just up the road from me! if i knew you were coming id've put the kettle on. :-)

Well if we get down again next year I'll PM you and you can come and watch me waving the banner ! Have you ever been to the festival?
-
I have AN IDEA!!
We could always move this forum to Facebook? we can still post about stuff and talk about gerenal topic and load of nice sweets :) it might even attract some new visiters. If need be Choch admin could email some off the past member to inform them about this nice change like
Lou, Smufy, SM, Cherry, lorri etc...
I have notice a few other forums have gone the some way, its not all down to Facebook, bebo, myspace ( remember those) net is only about 12 years young and it have moved alot since its started and now there so many other place, but its seem just like digital telly, there be more choice..........
-
I don't like Facebook.
-
Ask and ye shall receive 623. If you go to the Facebook chocolateering page there is now a discussions section. Not that I'm promoting using that over this forum (it's quiet enough round here) - but it gives you options if you wish :)

I was at the Tolpuddle Festival too Oldspice! On the Sunday! Wish I'd known you were there - we could have both met up with wjp!
-
And regarding the forum I won't be going anywhere but have posted less these days, mainly because of all the spam and the lack of topics to post about. I have 'liked' the Facebook page but it's not really the same on there - a bit too public!
-
right, it's official - i'll meet you noth at the festival next year. i'll be the one wearing the pink carnation.
-
IT has to be a RED carnation wjp!
Could we come up with a Chocolate Forum banner?!!!!
-
chocolate pride!
-
I'll be carrying a copy of the Daily Mail. No wait...
-
i'll be carrying as many open bottles of Magners as humanly possible.
-
It's a date then wjp
-
see you there then. i hope they have a bouncy castle and toffee apples.
-
Hmmm, don't actually recall them.....I had a nice cream tea though!
-
mmm... cream teas. that's one thing dorset does extremely well indeed.
-
There's a voice that keeps on calling me
Down the road, that's where I'll always be.
Every stop I make, I make a new friend,
Can't stay for long, just turn around and I'm gone again
Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.
-
Bye again, chocolate hobo. Do come back and see us all again soon.
