Title: Jack Duckworth
Post by: smurfboy on November 09, 2010, 06:03:07 pm
I'll admit it... I cried my eyes out. Anyone else?

No, because I never watch soaps.

Me too! Oh - what a lovely idea having Vera come back to take him home! I'd kind of guessed that's somethjing of what they would do but it was still lovely.

You know what Smurfy? I also opened the Forum today precisely to start a thread abouty it and yours was the first thing I saw!

It wasn't tacky at all! It was beautiful. It was about a love that weathered the storms of life and that glowed gentle and warm for many years.

It was a nice touch having Softly As I Leave You in the background too. It was like a message to Tyrone and the loved ones he left behind:

Softly - long before you miss me
Long before your arms can beg me stay for one more hour
Or one more day
After all these years
I can't stand the tears to fall
So - softly - I will leave you now

I was worried it was going to be when I first read Vera was going to come back as a 'ghost', but it wasn't at all in the end - I found it really moving. I think partly it's because their relationship reminds me of my grandparents; they drove each other nuts, but my Grandad was lost when my Nan died. I think a lot of older couple can be like that.

Well - compare Jack's death with that of an East Ender's character:

Died twice - first time shot by a bunch of daffodils when walking along a canal path - second time - bludgeoned to death with a doggy doorstop.

At least Jack had a death most of us can relate to!

What do you mean?  It's quite common to be murdered by a bunch of daffodils, be magically resurrected and then murdered again with a doorstop.  Happens all the time around these parts!

i only watched the last 10 mins of Corrie on youtube. my mum informed me that i had to watch the whole episode to fully take in the atmosphere of what happened. not sure i can stomach a whole episode these days. haven't watched it since the last tram incident.
