I am enjoying a fabulous holiday down here in beautiful Cornwall. We set out last Friday, spent a day and night in Arundle, two nights and Dorchester (we went to the Tolpuddle Festival - the best ever this year - absolutely uplifting) and on Monday we arrvied in Newquay. Yesterday we went to visit my cousin in Hayle and today we are slobbing around in Newquay. The beaches are breathtakingly beautiful. We ahve been down before but not for over twenty years. I am loving it so much. At the mo we are in an internet cafe overlooking the seafront and there are surfers everywhere you look.
Back home on Friday.
Hope everyone is well.

Sounds like you are having a wonderful time oldspice. Glad you didn't forget us . Can you bring me back a hunky surfer please.

Will you be traveling down to lands end? IF you do get the chance travel to islands of scally!

dorchester? you should have said you were so close - i would've put the kettle on.

My dad's from Marazion! I used to be able to see St Michael's Mount from the bedroom window when I stayed there.

Yes you should have called and seen me on the way through Oldspice! Glad you're having fun - there are surfers all over the place where I live too.

I've had a lovely holiday but I am back in flat old Peterborough now with a mountain of washing and a week's worth of cleaning and shopping to do!
I'd forgotten how beautiful Cornwall is and we are already planning a trip back next Easter.
Dorchester was also lovely. So was Arundle. Arundle will definitley be on the cards for another visit as we didn't get much time to look around properly. It appeared to be a very English type of town with a farmers' market, traditional shops and a massive castle. One thing I also really enjoyed about being in the west country weas hearing regional accents once again.

you really should pop down to weymouth when you're in dorchester next. i love this town!

I am actually going up to Liverpool later in the summer!

Sorry Lou, didn't have room in the car!

is that not the same town that has wellworths?
-
yes, dorchester has wellworths. i have yet to venture in, though. it's only a couple miles away from where i live but i rarely go in that direction.
-
I saw that TV show on Wellworths - while I'd like to think they'll succeed, I can't help thinking that if a national chain with potentially huge buying power can't make that kind of store work, what chance does an independent have?
-
The woman who opened Wellworths didnt seem experienced enough to me to cope.
-
I thought she seemed okay - it was her team who were the problem. A bitter old woman who couldn't take advice or criticism running the shop floor and an inexperienced boy who spent more time playing videogames than working as your head buyer - doesn't sound like a recipe for success to me!
-
That's exactly what I thought Smurfy - and I wonder if that young lad is still working for them. He seemed ridiculously inexperienced to me and what was that thing about photo frames???
