"Nestle plans new and improved Aero:

Nestle is to invest £6 million in revamping its Aero brand, drawing on the update of its KitKat products.

The food firm is looking to introduce a bite-sized product, change the chocolate bar's recipe and revamp packaging.

It
is hoped the relaunch will help boost consumers interest in the brand
and help to increase profits through the creation of new snack
opportunities.

Nestle hopes the makeover will bring over £28 million in sales over the next 12 months, according to the Grocer.

New
products are likely to include a revamped block chocolate offering,
bite sized peppermint chocolate balls called Aero Bubbles and impulse
packs and sharing resealable pouches.

Some of the new items are expected on UK shelves by April.

Although
some have claimed the changes could overstretch the brand, Nestle has
referred to its KitKat relaunch and claimed it led to a substantial
improvement in sales."

And they're changing the Aero recipe! I for one am pleased as Aero has always tasted cheap and nasty to me.

What will the 'new recipe' be? Nice chocolate, or is that too much of a change?

Aero with Honeycomb was truly horrific. I've never tasted anything as bad. (Well, except Fuse).

Years ago, when Aero was made by Rowntrees, they were lovely, creamy, bubbly bars. I can remember being a small child and sitting on my bed eating a small Aero bar given to me by my big sister. I can still feel the texture between my teeth and the way the bubbles burst into chocolateness on my tongue. Of course, in those days all such treats were rare so we appreciated them more. I think, by today's standards, were were very, very poor and only had sweets and chocolate on birthdays and at Easter or Christmas. Also, if a better-off relative visited, they would often bring a small treat.

I can remember too the treat of being able to choose a Club biscuit in the grocers once in a while. In those days they sold them in singles from the counter top. Does anyone else remember this? No multi-packs but Penguins and Club biscuits and YoYos being sold in singles?

Yes I remember this.  Somehow Penguins in green wrappers always tasted better than the rest!  And I loved Toffee YoYos, do they still make them?

I think Penguins have been tampered with to be honest. I had some the other day and they didn't taste how I remembered.

There were some in the tin at work and I had one. I opened it and took one bit and I couldn't eat the rest. It was unpleasent. I was looking forward to sucking the chocolate off the bourbon biscuit!
