[Marks & Spencer (M&S) has handed out nearly a million discount vouchers to staff ahead of a trading update due next month, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The newspaper sees the scheme as an attempt to boost sales ahead of the trading figures, and says it is likely to spark renewed fears about current trading at M&S.
More than 70,000 staff have each been sent 12 vouchers, offering 20% off clothing, food and homewares, in a repeat of a promotion that ran for the first time last February.]

Anyone got a relative who works there?

This is similar to a ploy that I hear about whereby a college that was struggling to meet enrolment targets set by its funding controllers enrolled all their staff on a Health & Safety Course at a ridiculous academic level so they wouldn't fail. Not only did they then meet their enrolment targets but they increased their achievement rate by a few percent.

My aunt worked for M&S for years; she's retired now, but still gets concessions such as this, so hopefully she might get lucky this time.

Does M&S really need shops that big to sell bras and sandwiches?
Just a thought.

Every M&S I go into sells a lot more than bras and sandwiches and fills their two floors easily.

Yes, they do salad lunches too.
