Title: Old Wrappers / Info needed
Post by: glf1710 on May 28, 2008, 03:46:16 pm
Hey I'm a 2nd year Graphic Design student and as part of my coursework I'm planning on producing a publication (booklet or magazine) on discontinued chocolate products. This is basically a plea for anybody who has any old chocolate wrappers hanging around or whether they know of where and when certain products got taken off the market? Any hlep is very much appreciated!! My Deadline's looming and I'm getting desperate!  :o

I can't help with wrappers I'm afraid, but this is a bit of info off the top of my head:

Fry's Five Centres - discontinued 1992
Fuse and Spira - discontinued 2006
2003 - Cadbury discontinue Wispa, Wispa Gold and Wispa Mint and introduce the Cadbury's Dairy Milk with... range. CDM with Bubbly replaces Wispa. Cadbury's Caramel, Fruit and Nut, Whole Nut and Turkish are all rebranded as CDM with... (I can't be sure, but I think the Cadbury's Classics range, including Tiffin and Old Jamaica, were discontinued at the same time.)
Maverick - discontinued 2003
Texan - discontinued 1985; reintroduced as a limited edition in 2005

It would also be worth you looking through our Discontinued section on the forum, as there is a probably quite a bit of info if you're prepared to dig.

Does anyone remember in the 1960's that Galaxy chocolate wrapper was half cream coloured and half sky blue ? Please tell me I'm not dreaming this as people in work think I've lost the plot !!

I know that the Galaxy wrapper used to be very different but I can't picture its old colours. I bet you're right though.
