It's true - Cabanas are coming back later this year!!!
From eMarketing Bulletin:
CONFECTIONERY giant Nestle has announced it will reintroduce the Cabana bar this summer.
The bar, originally produced by Rowntree Mackintosh (purchased by Nestle in 1989) was last on UK shelves back in 1984. A combination of coconut, cherries and caramel covered in milk chocolate, the bar will be relaunched as a test run backed by a Hawaiian-themed advertising campaign, with the slogan 'Chill out at the Cabana'.
The decision was made to reintroduce the bar following huge consumer pressure, and a successful 'Retro' campaign in 2006 during which Nestle produced the popular Drifter and Rolo lines with 1980s packaging. A spokesman confirmed, 'After much demand from our customer base, we are pleased to be bringing back this old favourite. Cabana is a lively brand and our promotions will reflect this sense of fun - we're confident the bar can become the taste of the summer'.
The first Cabana bars will be available from mid June with an SRP of 45p for a 46g bar.
Well, I for one am stunned. I was convinced this would never happen - but for all you coconut lovers, I'm very pleased.

Now remember what happens AFTER 12 noon, Smurfy!
-
it's not fair to play with peoples emotions like this!
-
I think I tried this one about five years ago. I think I said it was Texan though - and you know what happened there!
-
so maybe this is a good omen.
-
Hmmmm, so you enjoyed the comeback Texan then?
-
I read smurfys post and immediately texted my friends then continued reading the thread and now I am so very upset. I could almost feel and taste that cabana in my mouth. My day is ruined.
-
Did 'a lively brand' with 'promotions that reflect this sense of fun' and 'the taste of the summer' sound sufficiently convincing as marketing BS?
-
if you can't trust a smurf, who can you trust?
-
The slogan 'Chill out at the Cabana' is very catchy.

-
i'm still convinced it will make a comeback one day. you can't give up hope.
