Lots of it here. Some horror just threw a snowball at my window.Snow is the only thing that brings the kids out here. The rest of the time they are on their computers and games consoles.

Although it's cold here in Plymouth we haven't got snow. The last time we had enough snow to cause a day off work was 1997!!
I would love to have snow occasionally, we'd would be forced to stay indoors by the fire and eat chocolate

Before 1997 I remember having snow in the late 80s (enough to be sent home from school) so I guess one blizzard per decade is all we get here.
Due to the rural nature of my town it doesn't take much snow for me not to be able to get to work

We sure did! At least four inches on the ground this morning - and still snowing. It doesn't take much for the people of Peterborough to give up and stay indoors. As a city, we are cut off by a series of "parkways" - like motorways that circle the city. If they are blocked - you can't get in!
Also, we are surrounded by remote villages and funny little towns (March, Wisbech, Whittlesey, Coates, Holbeach, Ramsey) and many of our students are collected from their village/towns and brought to college by coach. I bet they will be late or absent today because the roads and lanes are so narrow and surrounded on both sides by dikes that help to drain the flat Fens.

Bounty - Manea is familiar to me but a bit too far out. Us townies are reluctant to stray too far into the hinterlands around here. There are too many stories of red eyes, webbed feet and unions within the family!
Yesterday we had four inches of snow in town. By 6pm it had gone due to heavy rain and hail. This morning we have an inch of snow again and more expected. I hate it.

It almost never snows in Nottingham. Seriously, if it does - it stays for about an hour and it's gone. The last time it seriously snowed here was December 10th 1990. It was so bad it brought down power lines and even some pylons as it was really sticky (type B snow) combined with strong winds. Some places were without power for five days.
Before that you have to go back to January 7th 1987. That was the coldest day ever in Nottingham - 17 °C. It snowed a couple of days earlier and snowed continuously for about a day and a half. There was snow lying around for about 10 days.
But for really serious snow you need to look at the winter of 1981 - 82 when there was lying snow for weeks on end. That was also the year that the record low temperature was set in the UK - 26.1 °C at Newport Shropshire.
Before that I guess it was 1963 and 1947. Looking at that periodicity we are WELL overdue a really bad winter.
