Bought a box of Wispas today
haven't eaten any yet, I hope they
are the same as they used to be.
-
Fantastic!
Actually I prefer CDM BUbbly!

Having said that, I loved Wispa Mint and Wispa Gold.
-
I'm exactly the same Oldspice.smurfboy2007-09-27 20:15:54
-
i've looked - but there's none down these parts as of yet.
-
Well I heard the 'official' launch is in October, so strictly speaking they shouldn't be in the shops til Monday - perhaps Morrisons are trying to steal a march on their rivals.
-
I saw a box on ebay today with a starting price of 50. My box was 20 and that was paying for the equivalent single bars (no bulk discount) from the supermarket!
-
I can't believe anyone would pay fifty squid for a box of Wispas - but then again...
-
I have since read the Cadbury auctioned the official 'first box' of the new run for charity - and it raised 195 quid!
-
I can't believe anyone would pay fifty squid for a box of Wispas - but then again...
How many is in a box?
-
48 I think.
-
More than 1 each then. No way would i pay that.
-
He hasn't had any bids yet - surprise surprise!
-
Smurfy have you seen the new ebay rule that is going to be introduced about accepting payments? They are trying it on Australia ebay now. A seller can only choose one method of payment to accept now so if you were to say you accepted postal orders you would have to only take postal orders and no paypal or cheques.
-
That's ridiculous! What possible point can there be? I seriously wonder sometimes if the top brass at eBay are determined to press the self-destruct button.
Back to Wispas, got my first lot from Sainsbury's today
-
2 down, 46 to go
-
Anyone who has any worries about them not being as good as they used to, good news - they taste exactly the same as they did before.
-
I think this site should start a petition to get CDM Bubbly back in production.
Not that I know whether they have actually stopped making it or not.
I just think we should have a petition, that's all.
What about another one to get Nestle to continue to make poor imitations of Toffee Crisps?
-

Ah, but is the blue wrapper the exact same blue?
-
Actually it is!
-
Indeed!
I tried one today.
They don't taste as nice as they used to though.
They have changed the recipe and use some nasty cheap chocolate and the bubbles have increased in diameter and the wrapper doesn't open as easily as it once did.
Oh, I remember when you could take the tram to the pictures for 1d and you could use a washed empty jam jar to get admission to the matinee. The films were far better too! Not that nasty tacky rubbish that they produce nowadays and the commissionnaire would doff his hat to you as you left and bid you a good day.
Ah, those were the days.
-
There - I just knew the wrappers wouldn't open properly like they used to!
-
Back to Wispas, got my first lot from Sainsbury's today
Smurfy did I read somewhere you mentioned there was an offer on Wispas at Sainsbury's?
-
I think it's 3 for a pound.
-
Sainsbury's in Harborne have sold out
I hope I'm not making my prediction too early, but I'd say the odds are good for a permanent return!
-
I still haven't seen a sign of them in my local Sainsbury's.
-
Morrisons had sold out yesterday.
Reason 1 NOT to shp at Morrisons.
-
15 quid per box at my local cash 'n' carry ... they had 100 boxes!

Win Wispa related prizes.
Not promoting this one Mr Chocadmin?
Ah! They didn't supply you with free choc then?
-
Hotel Chocolat is an affiliate of the review. Cadbury isn't.
-
What? Pay me and I'll tell everyone how great your chocolate is?
-
'Send me customers and I'll pay you commission'. It's called business.
-

Hi Loulou - where did you read this?
I haven't listed on eBay for quite some time, so maybe a bit behind in catching up with any new developments -:(
-
My local Sainsbury's has replenished the shelves

-
Mine hasn't. Still no sign of them at all - obviously it's too small a store to be considered worthy of Wispas.
-
Had a Wispa on Sunday and wasnt impressed. If this is what they used to be like theyre nothing special.

Morrisons had sold out yesterday.
Reason 1 NOT to shp at Morrisons.
Reason 2 not to shop at morrison
we don;t have one!

-
After the way they are leaping off the shelves I would be stunned if Wispas don't come back for good.
-
My son brought some home last night. I had one, despite my diet and was quite impressed. However, a minute after I'd finished it, I got that burning in the back of my throat that tells me something is too sweet. I probably should not have eaten an whole one.
They had them in Woolies today.
-
I have foudn my Sisiter has sold 8 Boxes in the last 3 weeks
this is small shop: 48* 8 =
-
What I find ridiculous is the way they are promoting the 80's theme when in fact we have the facelifted 90's bar. Considering they stopped making it after the Millenium too, it shows that some people must have pretty short memories.80's Nostalga for a gimmick then?
-
NEWSFLASH - Company uses gimmick to sell product!
In other shock news, winter is cold on occasion.
-
WISPA become Carburys Bubble
-
Yes, but you missed my point, Smurfy, which is why focus on an era that had nothing to do with the actual bar sold?
You should know only too well that Global Warming has cancelled cold winters. In fact does winter actually exist in UK now?
-
Bought mine in Hastings today, my brain started playing tricks though, saying the bar used to be deeper and the bubbles bigger but im not so sure. It was lovely though, Just Wispa Gold and Wispaccino to go now.
-

Wispa was launched in the eighties and was one of the biggest sellers of that decade - how has that got nothing to do with the bar? I know the shape changed slightly in later years, but I don't think that's a reason not to use the campaign.
-
Tis true re one of the biggest sellers of that decade. It was also one of the biggest of the 90's but it didn't stop them canning it in favour of chasing the best selling bar in the big whole wide world. It just seems another cynical marketing ploy by a company who don't really care about their customers.
They brought it back?
Yes, that'll make us a few extra million (who can blame them?) whilst we piggy-back on a generation's nostalga.
I bet they haven't made their minds up about keeping it back until they see how much they can rake in.
I guess it boils down to the fact I do not think much of the company and their strategies. I wouldn't call them chocolate artisans. Profit is necessary I'll grant you, but where is the pride and love in the production of their products?
Rant over (for now
)
I'm away for a lie down and some fruit and nut.
OH! f**k!

I don't believe Wispa was selling that well at the time of its discontinuation. Yes, Cadbury wanted to build on the CDM brand, but did they discontinue Time Out when they introduced CDM Wafer? Did Crunchie go when they introduced CDM Crunchie? Has Turkish Delight disappeared from the shelves since CDM Turkish arrived? They kept all those bars - if Wispa was still a big seller, why not keep that too?
I think the success of the revival is a classic case of people wanting what they can't have. You can only miss something if it isn't available, so now it's back there's a lot of excitement. I myself have eaten about four Wispas in the last couple of weeks, but I probably didn't buy that many in the last year before it got the chop - and I'm willing to bet I'm not alone.
-
I am finding it very hard to find Wispas now, WH Smith have them but want 65p which is pricey!
btw does anyone else think Wispas were better in their original form which was chunkier and less flat? You know what i mean, you had to open your gob wider to get it in. They lost a bit of their magic when they flattened them.
Oh and Wispa Golds were sickly sweet nasty contraptions.
-
Wispa Gold was fantastic! As for complaining it was sweet, what do you expect the combination of chocolate and caramel to taste like - sucking a lemon?
-
Am I the only person bothered that they made them flatter?
-
It has been said by others......
-

I preferred the size of them when they were fatter however in those days they had a paper wrapper which tended to split at the corners giving them a stale chocolate taste. Ideally I would like them to be the old style 'chunky' bars but in the new style (plastic) wrapper.
-
I used to absolutely detest Wispa's of the milk chocolate variety...they had a very artificial aftertaste (I'm talking about the original 80's version here).
The 'new' Wispas are really scrumptious though - a huge improvement on the original product. These bars are definitely NOT the same as the ones that were axed a few years back.
I hope they bring back WispaGold. I think they would be a huge success.
-
And Wispa mint!!

Cant say I notice a difference in taste.
-
I had a Wispa today and I don't think it tastes any different.
-
The first generation of Wispa bars in the 80's had a bitter and slightly artificial aftertaste which isn't there anymore. Now they just taste of Dairy Milk. Bear in mind I've not had one of these since they were first released...
-
Wispa's spotted in my local shop at 47p (rusts) today in aldershot, still got quite a few left.
-
Are Wispas appearing in any Cadbury selection boxes this Christmas?
-
Good question!
-
I saw a Toblerone selection box in Woolies yesterday. It has the new F&N one included.
-

Sounds good, I'll mention it to my other half. I haven't done any high street Christmas shopping yet, only online shopping which is why I wondered about the selection boxes, I haven't been to look at any yet. The thought of venturing onto the high street is not attractive to me at this time of year ... and I forgot to look when I was at the supermarket!
-
It is also BOGOF on Toblerone 400g and 720g in Woolies. (3.69)
The selection boxes were 2 for a fiver, I think.
