Nicole Richie has been set free from jail after serving 82 minutes of a four-day sentence for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The 25-year-old was fingerprinted and at the Los Angeles detention centre, but did not reach her cell.
Under guidelines to prevent prison overcrowding, inmates sentenced to less that 30 days for non-violent crimes are usually released within 12 hours.
Richie was arrested in December for driving the wrong way down a motorway.

A court in India has upheld the sentencing of Bollywood star Salman Khan in a case of poaching.
Khan had asked the court to set aside a five-year jail term, issued in April 2006 for hunting a protected gazelle on a trip to Rajasthan in 1998.
Khan, one of Bollywood's top actors, was not present in the court in Rajasthan's Jodhpur city when the judge upheld the sentence.
The court said that the actor should be sent to prison immediately.
Khan's lawyers told reporters that the actor would appeal against the sentence in a higher court.

Anyone guilty of drinking to excess and then driving should be jailed for such a time as it PUNISHES them, INCONVENIENCES them and SETS AN EXAMPLE to others.
SIX MONTHS upwards is a good start.
-
They should also be banned from driving for life.

Lou where the one where a Church type person got of with abising over 100 kids
Even his sister is disgacted!

We urgently need to use the money spent blowing up Iraq and killing people to build more prisons. I agree with 623.. what about the Jehovas Witness elder spared jail after abusing stacks of kids? I would cut off his bits with a carving knife and feed them to the judge.

I am not familiar with that case.

I think anyone who has so much as sneezed without covering their mouth should be burnt alive in Trafalgar Square.
-
I was on the bus the other day and the man behind me sneezed on my head. He deserves to be burnt alive in Trafalgar Square. Dirty ba**ar*.
-
I agree

I was in Asda recently and an elderly woman sneezed all over my friend's handbag - it was covered in it!
My friend went to Customer Services and the assistant - bless her- went and got baby wipes and rubber gloves and cleaned her handbag for her. I was most impressed.
-
But was the old woman burnt alive?

But was the old woman burnt alive?
Not that I'm aware of.

A good hard slap around her head would have done.

A hankerchief would have been more useful!

A man has been found guilty today of abusing children. Because he denied it, the jury were compelled to watch a video of him raping a 12 year old girl. He said he made the film as a souvenir. He also had 1000's of stills of other children he had abused - all girls. The judge sentenced him to life.
I'm saddened and appalled by the case; obviously. I'm also saddened by the fact that yet again, a crime deserving a whole life tariff has not been meted out.

Good idea. Strangling is far less messy.
