Title: Golden Balls
Post by: goldencup on July 12, 2007, 06:44:56 pm
Has anyone watched this and does anyone else agree that Jasper Carrott seems distinctly uncomfortable in the role of quiz show host?

Surely anyone asked to host a show called Golden Balls has a right to look uncomfortable!

It is a good show -  I watched it last night - You either have to be a very good judge of character to play and split the prize, or be a very good liar and screw everybody over - class

I don't rate Jasper much though

i'd never split. i mean, think about it. if you split you'll either A. only receive half the money, or B. lose the whole lot. only an idiot would split. i'd rather steal leave with nothing.

Even if it was for a lot of money and you trusted the other person?

I haven't seen the show, but from the sound of it you would be stupid to trust someone yoi've known for less than half an hour.

I think you'd have to have a very strong conscious to look someone in the face and basically say, I have lied all the way through this and now I'm stealing all what we've worked for.

How much is the jackpot? For 10 grand I'm sure I could summon up the strength!

I don't know - I watched it for the first time last night! I just could not beleive the front of the woman who stole all of the money.

Have you watched the new show on Channel 4. I think it's called guess my salary?

just finished watching 'Win My Wage', or whatever it's called. i can never guess who's earning what. very difficult.

as for 'Golden Balls' - i agree with smurfy. how can you feel guilt about double-crossing someone you've just met backstage?

I quite like 'Win My Wage' - I've only seen it twice but I picked the highest earner both times.

i think you could call my predictions a little racist - i always root for the Asians, thinking they're doctors.

that's a good way to do it. There was an article in the Newspaper this week, apparently the average wage for a bristish GP is 100k - This can't be right?

I think it propbably is. I'd much rather pay that to a doctor than a footballer (and I love football) or a health service manager.

i think we should cut all high-earners salary and raise minimum wage.

But then where is the incentive to work hard and get the qualifications needed for high-paying jobs?

i personally believe that the highest paying jobs are not worth the salary. footballers, for example. solicitors - that kind of thing. and fair enough that doctors get paid well - but why are they entitled to 200 days holiday a year!

and as for incentive for hard work... i truly believe someone working in mcdonalds can be just as hard working as someone managing a bank.

I agree about footballers - no one is worth 20k a week. But if the market didn't demand it, those wages wouldn't get paid.

As for McDonalds, I'm sure it's hard work, but that doesn't mean I'd want someone who shovels chips for a living in charge of my money - which is why the comparison with a bank manager doesn't wash for me.
