Title: Galaxy Mistletoe Kisses
Post by: Scarlet_Salome on June 02, 2007, 01:29:11 am

Re the recent news of 'Galaxy Mistletoe Kisses': These are said to be very similar to 'Galaxy Jewels' which coincidentally I spotted for the first time the other
day and thought looked so alluring I planned on posting about them in the Foreign Products forum.

I saw these in a discount
store named 'Hooties' in Willenhall, who have a penchant for stocking bizarre and
wonderful confectionery (though also of dubious origin and quality:- these
originated in the Middle East and were past the best before date). Jewels,
marketed in Indian and the Middle East, are
Galaxy brand chocolates that are rather Roses-esque.

I have to say the centres seemed simpler and nicer than the
disgusting creamy ganache/mousse concoctions the recent upsurge of luxury
chocolate assortments tend to favour; though I cant remember them exactly.

 Ironically, one of my
first thoughts was that Masterfoods should bring something similar out in the UK possibly as
a rival to Cadburys Roses and Nestle Quality Street (and also as they looked
rather appealing). Seems like someone heard my prayer!

(Sorry for the long post and if you would prefer this in the Foreign Products forum please let me know)

Thanks for this. Talking of Quality Street, they have released boxes of 'toffees and fudges' from the range in an individual bos, followed by a 'nutty and caramels' version but, as yet, NO CREAMS VERSION!!!!

LOL Yes, Hooties is well known for that. Are you a native of that area Scarlet? It's nice to have a fellow West Midlander here.

Yes, greetings to all, and, fortunately or unfortunately as one wishes to view it, I do reside in the West Midlands.
Willenhall and its ilk can sometimes be a goldmine for unusual chocolates, usually from Eastern countries and sold at ridiculously low prices (for example the Market Hall shop thing there near Greggs).
Also the Sweet Box (or Chocolate Box) by the Town Hall in Walsall is one of the only true (rather than postmodern retro) old fashioned sweet shops around; stocking all the traditional loose favourites plus lovely but hard to find time honoured brands such as Needlers and Beeches (they even had their Continental assortment to buy by the quarter).

Sounds like I will have to move to the West Midlands!

Candies in Aldridge used to be good, but I think it's closed down. There's a shop also called Candies in Brum, but that's a traditional themed one.

Candies in Aldridge was still there yesterday!

They certainly look pretty good.
?? Cadbury and Masterfoods products made in the same factory?

Probably a third party co-manufacturer for seasonal chocolates.

Matey with the pic of the wrapper wants to be careful he doesn't lose his job!...I dare say that if his boss or someone appropriate at his compay knew he was stealing property of Mars and sharing it on a website like this they wouldn't be happy!...Third party co-manufacturers probably rely on their ability to maintain their credibility and ensure stuff like this doesn't  happen in order to secure lucrative contracts from the likes of Cadbury, Mars, Nestle etc...they wouldn't give firing him a second thought if this dude put their business reputation on the line!

Having said that, the chocolates look brilliant...packaging is nice and chocolates look lovely...I hope the industrial espionage bloke is right in his tase review of the product! Looking forward to trying them.

Tried the new Galaxy Mistletoe Kisses on Friday. 75p for a 3 pyramid-style bar.
Very over rated and I haven't even rated them yet.
5/10.

That score isn't high enough for me to try them.

Try them because you want to, not because of someone else's opinion.

I rely on paulhams opinion for many things.

Admit it, Smurfy. You find that statement deeply concerning.
I would if I really thought she was serious.

I'm undecided about whether I find it concerning - I'll have to ask GC and Oldspice what I think first Wink

Ive tried Galaxy Misteltoe kisses and it's not exactly amazing. Deffinitely not worth the 55p I paid.

That's it then. I won't bother buying any.

Finally found these today. A bit like Galaxy caramel and CDM Double Choc in one chocolate.

Has Double Choc gone out of production? Our newsagent has them on the counter to clear at 20p.

As others have said, they're not cheap, but definitely worth a try.

Not according to the Cadbury website, but there's definitely a surplus - The Big Apple has them on five for a quid. (Not good when I'm supposed to be dieting!)

Hubby bought me a stick of Mistletoe Kisses tonight and although they taste OK they are plain boring. They claim to have a 'caramel and mousse filling' but I could only find the caramel.  As Smurfy said, not much different from Galaxy Caramel and I don't think they're worth the money.

What with? If it is a Twix then I don't think it will work.
Shouldn't this be on a new subject heading too?

Somehow I posted this a new Topic unaware of the fact that it existed on an earlier thread.  Of course Smurfboy in his infinite wisdom sorted it out, so a big thumbs up there!  Paulham, your pathetic attempt at chocolate punnery will not go unpunished.

There used to be a very nice sweet shop in Dudley, near the entrance to Beaties... no idea if it is still there? anyone confirm?

Galaxy Mistletoe kisses are nice enough, only three in the pack though? meh
