Yes it's time we had a new logo for the chocolate review.
So I'm appealing to all the loyal chocolate followers to come up with suggestions, ideas and (if you're up for it) actual examples.
Link or upload your images in replies to this posting for everyone to comment on.
The 'winner' will replace the current logo for the site, and be used as a basis to re-do the graphical elements of the site (and perhaps even the layout).
There is no official prize as such, but there may be rewards in the form of a free chocolate sample or two and any chocolate review merchandise that features the logo will net a small financial reward for every product sold.
-
I am working on my image and will upload it after the weekend.
-
aaaaaaah - i'm gonna miss the current logo.
-
We will still have it if chocadmin doesn't find something he likes better. loulou2007-06-01 22:11:20
-
Yep, although it'd be nice to have one that can be used at higher resolutions - I'd have to make our current logo again using the wrapper scans and I don't really want to have to do that

-
It's only a first try, so don't judge me too harshly

-
hey, that's quite nice.
-
I think that's great!

I love it loads.
-
I tried to make the pigs and the smileys larger but they jumped back to normal size when I posted it.
-
Smurfy's is best
-
I still like the original.
-
Remember how a finger of KitKat used to have 'Rowntrees' engraved on it in handwriting? I would like to see a finger of KitKat with the word 'chocolate' in the same style. Then the word 'review' could be made up of wrapper scans. Sorry I don't have photoshop or similar at work because I could show you what I mean.
-
Is no one else entering?
-
I am but I am a bit slow as had too much work lately and can't quite get the etching bit right but it's coming.
-
lets be honest - it is going to take something special to beat this.
-
I'm still working on it but you are right that the original is brilliant.
-
But maybe Chocadmin's right about it being time for a change.
-
I don't always like change.
-
if it aint broke, don't fix it!
-
-
(regarding my 'if it aint broke...' post, look how wrong it can go if you ignore that logic... look what george lucas did to the original Star Wars movies?)
-
Bizarrely, this whole discussion has now completely put me off the current logo - I can't wait to see the back of it!
-
-
-
You can shake your head all you like - the Smurf's not for turning!

But I thought you wanted to see the back of it?

-
While we are updating things, I'd like to see the brown bars/boxes become a deeper colour.
-
In the navigation/site content or in the forum system?
-
I think they are a perfect (milk) chocolate colour as they are.
-
I think they are perfect too.
-
In the navigation/site content or in the forum system?
Both! They look an anaemic, almost coffee colour at the moment. I think a darker colour - perhaps the same shade as your choc chunk avatar and stars - would look great
-
Ah I understand now and yes smurfy they do look coffee coloured don't they.
-
Sorry Smurfy - I was looking at Chocadmin's avatar and stars and thought that was what you meant - I couldn't see what was wrong with that colour.

-
Nice one.
-
Look how nicely etched that choc is.loulou2007-07-05 09:12:43
-
Ooohh....
-
Well Done Lou!
I love it except for the mixture of upper and lower case characters and that's just me being picky (as usual).
-
Would you eat it though?
Are you not amazed it isn't pink?

Amazed???? I was totally gobsmacked!!!!
-
It's wonderful!! Well done Lou!
-
-
Chocadmin - is it time for a poll, or are you hoping for more entries?
-
I think we need some more entries. How many we had this far, 4?
-

-
maleficarum are GOOD"!
-
Thank You

-
maleficarum you misspelt chocolate in your logo and did you steal that pic from the Quality street box?
-
I want to enter but dont know how to uplaod my image
-
If you use the 'Post reply' button at the bottom of the page, you'll get an image upload option. This doesn't appear if you use quick reply.
-
Oops,
. The original pic is from Willy Wonka

-
So it's a stolen image?
-
-
It's the same as the other one

-
I'm just keeping it fresh in your minds. A bit like when they put missing peoples faces on milk cartons.

Otherwise known as brainwashing.

-

-
Eeek - snails!!!
-
Ah smurfy where did you steal that pic from?
-
I didn't steal it from anywhere.
-
Chocadmin can you redo your original logo with newer choc wrappers and perhaps make it shiny.
-
Yep, although it'd be nice to have one that can be used at higher resolutions - I'd have to make our current logo again using the wrapper scans and I don't really want to have to do that
-
I don't understand - excuse my ignorance but what would be the advantage of being able to use the logo at higher resolutions (and what does that mean anyway)? Please explain in simple English that a person of my advanced years can understand.
-
So do we have a winner yet or do you not see anything that takes your fancy chocadmin?
-

The difference between high and low res is about image quality. On the web it doesn't make a huge amount of difference because monitor quality varies so much, but if Chocadmin wanted to use the logo in print - say a magazine wanted to do a feature about it - he would need to have it in high res. It would also be useful if he wanted to produce merchandise.
-
A good idea would be for chocadmin to make mugs with the logo on and we could all have them and sit here drinking tea while we post.
-
I like that idea!
-
Thanks for the explanation Smurfy.
-
I have my uses

-
Chocadmin do you like any of the entries?
-
Who;s win?
-
chocadmin wins cos none of the entries are half as good as the original.
-
Is this competition dead then?
I don't agree that none of them are better than the original.
-
I would like to try and have a go at making one please, but if there is not enough time then that is fine as it may take me a few days!!
-
I'm sure there's still time for you spira. I think you should have a go. chocadmin will not change his logo within the next few days.
-
not hat i have an amazing entry or anything... but even if i did i wouldn't be able to upload the pic anyway! for weeks now i've been getting an error message every time i try to upload an image (note: copy and paste works, it's just the uploading bit.)
surely this isn't just me - is everyone else having this trouble?
-

Works for me
-
well why the hell is it just me then? i've tried AOL and browser and get the same results.
-
I just tried it and I kept getting the error message too.
-

Yay! It wouldn't preview but it uploaded.
-
i take it it's working for you now... but i'm still getting error! grr!
-
Just a thought (that I cannot be arsed trying out literally).
What about taking cross sections of various bars that have also been cut in outline to resemble the letters required to make up the title?

-
I think you should make the effort and
show us what you mean.
-
Is this competition dead?
-
Looks that way.
