This morning at 3.30am I was woken by my car alarm going off and looked out of my bedroom window to see the drivers side door was wide open. I dialled 999 (whoops big mistake). Some woman starts lecturing me how it is not an emergency call and I should not be dialling 999. Duh like at 3.30am when I'm suddenly woken up I'm going to do a search for the local police station. I say do a search cos directory enquiries seem neither use nor ornament. If I can understand them then they cannot understand me and twice last week while trying to find the number of a hairdresser they gave me the number of a betting shop and a hoover repair shop.
Anyway back to the police. They arrived within 20 minutes which was really good. When my neighbour was burgled it took them three hours to arrive and I got wrong for asking if they were the quick response unit.
I was told there had been several reports last night of car break ins, given a crime number and once again told not to dial 999 again.
Last week, my friend's car was broken into and they nicked my new rucksack, all my food, a brand new flask and a gillet (sort of body warmer). They broke a window, pulled the back seat forward and took it from the boot from the inside. I rang 999 and was told by the hoity toity woman that I should have phoned my local police station!!!
Are they real or what?
BTW Great Post Lou
No had gone for a walk. I think we must have been watched from the bushes and they struck when were out of sight.
I would have rang 999 too. Those robbers could still have been about and you could have been in danger.
