I am very interested in song lyrics and have built up a collection of the very best and the very worst. When looking for very bad lyrics, I ignore intentionally bad lyrics and go for ones that were supposed to be good but are terrible.
Here are my two favourite worst sets of lyrics:
Extract from I Did What I Did For Maria: (Tony Christie)
Sunrise, this is the last day that I'll ever see
Out in the court yard they're ready for me,
But I go to my Lord with no fear,
Cos I did what I did for Maria.
As I rode into town, all the shutters were down
Cos they knew I had come, with my hand on my gun,
And revenge in my heart for Maria,
I did what I did for Maria.
Extract from Teen Angel
That fateful night our car was stalled
Up on the rail road track,
I pulled you out and we were safe .....
But you went running back!
It's about a man who was executed for killing the man who raped and killed his wife! In the 70s people used to politely dance round their handbags andwiggle their bodies to that macabre tale!
I love the line They knew I had come, with my hand on my gun!
east 17, 'steam':
"outside it's rainin', but inside it's wet!"
genius.
I think its upbeat happy song
also I think it the best out of the 4 song he head in the top 5 !
Up beat? His wife dies, he kills his wife's killer, then he dies!
Take an eye for an eye
And a life for a life
For somebody must die
For the death of my wife
What in God's name do you call a down beat song?
Home, home on the range,
where the deer and the antelope play.
Where seldom is heard, a discouraging word,
and the skies are not cloudy all day.
How awful is that?
From Sheena Easton's Modern Girl - 'She eats a tangerine, flicks through a magazine....'
From Tell Me On a Sunday - 'Take me to a zoo that's got chimpanzees, tell me on a Sunday please...'
Or what about 'I love you like a fat kid love cake' from 21 Questions by 50 Cent! Actually, I think that might be one of the best ones
" I love it when she calls, she never calls at all".
I think its Kasier chiefs
