Hi there!
We are having a discussion at work about the old Milky Way (much like a Flyte bar is now).
Half the people don't believe me that the filling now (white) is different to what it used to be!
When did it change over?? Am I going mad and talking rubbish? Maybe I am just an old git in an office full of young'ns! (I am only 27!)
Help!!

i dont know if they have changed the white filling in taste recently but it did used to be brown in side (like the flyte) and it was in a blue wrapper. It was better in thouse days.
-
Yes, the filling was definitely brown and moussey and they changed it about 10 years ago. What happened is that they released 'white filling' Milky Way along side the traditional version, then dispensed with the original and relaced it with the white filling.
Most people I know prefer the old brown moussey filling as I do myself.
-
It changed in about 1992/93 I think. I actually liked both versions, but slightly prefer the new. Flyte, which some people say is an old Milky Way (it isn't) is vile - cheap and grainy tasting.
-
I thought it was longer ago than that.
-
Certainly no longer ago than 1990.

It was about 1990-1991 ish the change happened.
The old 'brown filling' one was much nicer.

i liked super mousse more than milky way when i was young, but out of the brown or white milky way filling dilema brown wins hands down

Tesco do a bar called Wild and Whippy which looks like an old style Milky Way, don't know if it tastes the same but might be worth researching
-
I don't know what the old style Milky Way's used to taste like. I just don't remember.
But I think the Tesco Wild and Whippy are much nicer than Milky Way bars.

The old Milky Way was lovely but Cadbury's Moose was even better. Yuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmm

No, this is a chocolate forum. You need www.corprophilia.com.

years ago the fillling was white much like it is now then they chenged milky ways to browny mousse and now more recently back to white again , and the old ones are kind of like flytes but flytes not quite so nice

It wasn't merely a colour change. The main ingredient that you miss the taste of in Milky Way is MALT.
They took it out/reduced it in a Mars too apparently our tastes have changed.
BOLLOCKS TO THAT!
-
I still like milky way.

Wasn't Cadbury's Mousse called Super Mousse? I loved that, and can still picture the cartoon elk, er, moose.

My taste has not changed. I LIKE the taste of malt. I wish they would leave things alone and stop messing with them. As soon as a product acquires a 'new improved' label, I know I am no longer going to like it!

As Billy Connolly says, 'it's either new or it's improved - it can't be both!' And in my experience, it's rarely either...

True. He also says "Jobby" a lot.
Unfortunately those tend to be neither new or improved.

When I was at school in the 60s/70s I took a Milky Way every day. The centre was a similar texture to now but was grey rather than white. I like the white but I liked the grey as well and it would be nice to taste it again.
