Title: Weekend
Post by: moominmama on March 16, 2007, 04:59:42 pm
Does anyone remember Weekend chocolates from the 70s?  I used to love them as a kid and they suddenly disappeared and have not been seen since.  I can't remember who made them.  Does anyone know anything about them?

I think these were a Mackintosh product. Mackintosh were taken over by Rowntree, who have since been taken over by Nestle.

Didn't someone post a pic of these a while back?

There was indeed a picture of Weekend on here a long time ago - Oldspice posted it I think?  I tried to search for it but it would only let me look at page 1 of 3, then told me my search had expired for some reason!

Yes, I posted it.  Mackintosh did indeed make them. Rowntrees took over Mackintosh many, many, many years ago but continued to use the brand.

They were a strange combination (chocolates, candies, jellies) but are so fondly remembered by many posters, old and new, to the Forum so they must have been popular.

I was a great fan, and especially loved the Lime Candy one. Lou, our moderator, is also a fan. I'll get my son to help me post another piccie so we can all indulge!
