Title: Easter Eggs
Post by: wjp666 on March 05, 2007, 08:22:28 pm
i just had my 1st easter egg of the year (cadbury's buttons) and i've got to say something was terribly wrong! it tasted like cheap 'Lidl' chocolate in every sense of the word.

due to dieting, i haven't eaten ANY chocolate in 3 months. i'm starting to think my tastebuds have mutated.

so - is it just me, or has anyone else had problems with a cadbury's egg?

It's probably because you haven't had any choc for so long. My mother had the same thing with butter once when she'd been dieting.

maybe that's just it. i was expecting my first choc in months to be explosive and totally orgasmic... but i was wrong. whatever the case i'm extremely disappointed. oh well.

Going back to the chocolate kind, does anyone like Mars eggs? I think I like them better than the bars.

Yes, but how is that relevant?

It might explain why they are better than actual Mars bars.

Oh I see; I forgot we'd had confirmation Galaxy isn't used on Mars Bars. Is it definitely used in the eggs?

Mars eggs are gorgeous.  So are Galaxy Caramel eggs.  They're both three for 1 in Poundland!

I don't want Easter eggs this year. I'd rather have a nice box of chocs.

Same here. I see easter eggs as a waste of money and packaging.

I have noticed this forum removes pound signs from posts! I think Smurfy means they are 3 for 1 pound sterling in Poundland and 3 for the price of 1 in Tesco!

Oh I see now - thanks Cherry.  3 for the price of one is definitely a bargain, if that's right.

It's probably last year's stock. Chocolate goes like that when it's stale. It's something to do with the sugar contents. How disgusting!

It's called a bloom - it happens to chocolate after a while, especially if refridgerated. It's perfectly safe to eat, but I wouldn't want to! I think you should definitely complain WJP; you could be in line for some freebies Big%20smile

Smurfy isn't allowed easter eggs this year cos they'll wreck his diet so don't buy him any!!!!
Better to get him a new belt instead to hold his trousers up when they get too big for him Big%20smile

I was choosing Easter eggs in Tesco last Saturday, and there was a family (mum, dad, two teenage girls and a toddler in the trolley) in the aisle opening the eggs and eating them. It was the dad who started it, he actually said to the rest of them 'you have to try one before you buy one to see if it's any good. If anybody says anything blame it on Jack' (I assume Jack was the toddler sitting in the trolley) as he was opening the eggs and passing them out to the family. There was a shop assistant nearby and she totally ignored them.

Chocolate can get a cloudy coating / white specs on it when exposed to heat or light (ie. when not kept in a 'cool dry place', as packaging instructs). Perhaps at some stage in transportation / storage from Cadbury to your retailer your egg got really warm wjp666? Cadbury isn't necessarily responsible. Still, I hope you get good compensation for your disappointment! Smile
