Im not to sure what these are all about. I havnt tried them myself but i did come across them today and thought id share.

The website says - Our stunning new Revelations range has been created by our Master Chocolatier to reveal each velvety smooth layer so you know what temptation awaits you even before the first bite. Simply peel away the wrapper and delight in the different textures as they melt in your mouth
That box ^ is £9.95
-
I would bet that at least one is coffee flavoured
-
It would take me less than 5 minutes to eat all those.

What was that you were saying before about people who have no self-control?
-

I can control myself if I don't buy it in the first place. What I'm inferring is that those chocolates look so small that it wouldn't take long to polish them off.
-
I know what you mean, Kev. I have a tray of Eden from Thorntons which is unopened (from Christmas) but I know as soon as I open them they will be gone quickly.
-
I thought they looked quite big, i bet they are small though. I hate when chocolates are to big and you can only eat like 3 before feeling sick.
-
They look gorgeous.
-
They look gorgeous.
I think so too. I'm sure I could eat like seven or eight before feeling sick.
-
I think in the name of research we should get a box each and eat seven or eight of them.
-
Methinks you missed the point there Smurfy. Or was that deliberate?
-
It might have been
-
Don't you mean might of been?
-
I think in the name of research we should get a box each and eat seven or eight of them.
For £10 I don't think I would bother. Unless maybe Thornton's guarantee there are no coffee ones in there.
OT: I opened the tray of Eden last night ... they have changed the chocs since I last tried them ... I ate 3 chocs (which I think is pretty reserved).
-
I don't much like the revamped Eden chocs and will be in no hurry to try this new box. Most of their stuff has hydrogemated vegetable oil in anyway. Cheap, cheap!
-
I meant hydrogenated. Whoopsy!
-
NO Thorntons products contain hydrogenated vegetable oil. It's on all their packaging.
-
I'll carry on munching my Eden then

I take it they recently took it out then?
-
Well I first noticed this last summer.

*laughs* The removed HVO has actually been underway for the last couple of years - the toughest one was the Vienesse truffle, as it's swiss butter center - but we finally did it!
As for the new "Revelations", I can say personally that they are VERY good - hold on, I'll find my recipe cards (and supplement it with my opinions). If you hadn't guessed, yes, I do work at Thorntons :)
Gotcha - right, looking at the image above ^ I'll tell you what there is in order from the left:
Valencia Orange (one of my faves)
Rich orange centre layered between milk and dark chocolate, hand finished with a candied orane peel from the orange groves of Valencia. (tasty)
Italian Amaretto (I'm not a fan of amaretto normally- but this was GOOD!)
Rich and smooth praline (oh yeah!) layered between milk and white chocolate (normally I wouldn't approve, but the white gives it a smooth edge), sprinkled with crushed Italian amaretti biscuits.
Turkish Hazelnut (crunchy nut on the top, spot on!)
Indulgent praline centre (darn straight, quite thick, and you can't eat it fast, but nice) layered (see a theme here?) between milk and dark chocolate, hand finished with a golden roasted hazelnut picked in Northern Turkey. (if you don't like dark choc, you'll be surprised, it's not strong, but it creates a defined edge to the flavours)
English Toffee (oh yum oh yum - the traditional recipe has been here nearly half a century!)
Rich center with a hint of caramelised milk (yes, you can taste it clearly, but it's not sickly as I expected - it's a good light note into the creamy base), layered between dark and white chocolate, sprinkled with pieces of our famous Special Toffee.
Arabica Coffee (sorry, yes, I know, coffee isn't great. Personally, I hate coffee, but if you pick the bean off the top, it's actually ok.)
Divine coffee centre (to a secret recipe locked in a safe at Thornton Park!) layered between milk and white chocolate, hand finished with a whole roasted coffee bean from Columbi.
African Cocoa. (My no1 favourite - THIS is how chocolate should ALWAYS be!)
Rich chocolate centre, layered between milk and dark chocolate, fininshed with caramelised cocoa nibs from Ghana.
(boy oh boy, this is good - the flavours compliment perfectly without being overpowering, the textures are cleanly defined, and the nibs make a nice crunchy mouth-feel to really finish it off!)
They might not look much, but you will automatically make them last, savour each one.
They're damn nice.
Any questions?
-
Ooh, I forgot a bit. Because we've swapped all HVO for cocoa butter (which as you know, UK legislation says manufacturers can use up to 5% vegetable fats - but we don't!) it's a bit more expensive.
BUT WE take the brunt of that bill, leaving you guys with just the taste and health benefits! Cocoa butter has similar properties to olive oil, in the fact that it helps reduce cholesterol if eaten in right proportions.
-
*laughs* The removed HVO has actually been underway for the last couple of years - the toughest one was the Vienesse truffle, as it's swiss butter center - but we finally did it!
Couldn't they use, er, swiss butter?

-
LMAO they DO use swiss butter - but it's to build the shell with.
It's a Vienesse recipe of white and milk chocolate mixed together - the veg oil helps it bind better and make it smooth, not too strong against the flavour of the butter.
So they worked a mild cocoa butter in instead. More expensive, but as said earlier, they're footing the bill for that. The health benefits are keeping the profit levels high enough to continue.
It HAS been the nations' favourite for years...
-
My doctor never told me about the 'health benefits' of chocolate!
-
I know, it's such a shame the NHS is poorly funded. Imagine all the other benefits they haven't the money to tell us about...
I think I may have already said, but it's late and I can't be bothered to check, but Cocoa butter is similar to olive oil - if eaten in moderation (like olive oils) it can help reduce cholesterol (like olive oil)!
-
Yes, but all the sugar in chocolate doesn't help keep us healthy does it? Really, we'd be better off sticking to the sardines in olive oil. I think my doctor would be saying 'Now my dear, eat sardines on toast about twice a week' not 'make sure you eat Thornton's Rvelations because they are rich in Cocoa Butter'.

Yeah, Barry Colenso, master chocolatier, decided the centres were too exciting to cover in chocolate all the time, so he's flaunting them in this new style!
-
The naked chocolatier eh?
-
*laughs* That's a great way to look at it, yes.
The "clothing" of the sweet has been stripped away, leaving you with all the best bits, in an unusual but elegant manner.
*grins* I may have to use something similar in my sales patter, thank you. I'll let you know how it goes with customers - I like to get a laugh. Make the customer laugh, and bag the sale with ease.
-
Be careful though, you don't want to get sued by Jamie Oliver
