Post by: Chocolate Annie on February 08, 2007, 05:00:35 pm

Where are they? Those individually foil wrapped mini praline  Suchard chocolate eggs.  I would love just one more taster of them.  If you know where or how I can get hold of them please tell me.

You used to see a lot more of it.  Didn't it become Cote D'Or?

I don't think so as Cote D'Or has been around in Europe for many years now.

The Swiss food company Jacobs Suchard has won a takeover battle with its Swiss rival, Nestle S.A., for control of Belgium's leading chocolate maker, Cote d'Or. The Belgian company's board announced after a long meeting Thursday that it had accepted a takeover bid from Jacobs Suchard in preference to a later offer from Nestle. The Suchard offer values Cote d'Or at about $124 million, well above the $84 million that the public stock price implies. Only about 15 percent of the company's stock is publicly held, with much of the rest controlled by two families that run the company

OK I got it the wrong way round!  This was from 1987.

Hi,

I have asked that same question myself many times. Do u also remember the nest egg with 4/5 Suchard mini eggs on top and the little yellow chick that sat on the eggs?? My nan used to buy me one of these every Easter and they were truly delicious.

Regards Chez

No, as I don't read the papers. I tend to get my news from the internet.

However, which paper are you referring to?

I saw them twice now in the Mail on Sunday / You Magazine. They are photos of the chicks in various situations with funny captions. There is a website devoted to them but I forgot to note the address and can't find it with a search engine.

Sorry, I have not logged in for months.  However, I'm on the case of the missing Suchard eggs.  The Suchards factory Building in Welwyn Garden City where my Mum was employed for some time still stands.  Mum worked there way back in the late 60's, early 70's.  As you can imagine it is forever a reminder of the chocolate liqeurs and eggs I so favour. I'm now 42, so it has been  like torture as I worked next the building for 6 years.

That reminds me, I must contact Bassetts and ask them why they only supply their Milky Babies to retailers in and around leicestershire.  I have not yet seen any outside of that area.
