Title: chocolate is horrible!
Post by: oldspice on October 28, 2006, 09:09:48 am
I don't know whether it's me and my tastebuds or a general decline in standards and quality but just lately, every chocolate bar I have tasted has been awful! Even my favourites like Crunchie taste over-poweringly sweet and nasty. My latest experience was a  Ripple bar that was so sweet, and the chocolate tasted so unchocolately, that i am considering giving up chocolate altogether.

I have noticed this too but I only notice it if I have had a choc free week and then try a choc bar it tasted really sweet.

Green & Blacks isn't so sweet maybe you should try that Oldspice?

I have had no chocolate this week and today bought a Crunchie. I thought the choc had changed and it tasted cheap and very much like cooking choc. Good job I had my jaffa cakes to fall back on.

anyone remember that advert from the 90's which featured cows singing "we are happy cows, we chew the cud and browse?" what was it advertising??? butter or something...

Anchor Butter. There was another classic Anchor ad which featured a cow that sounded like Mike Reid singing 'now there is real butter that will spread straight from the fridge, well I've never seen anything like it in my life'...

It sounds like you're just eating the wrong sort of chocolate. I was given some Moser Roth milk chocolate yesterday which was bloody gorgeous. It has 32% cocoa solids and is very creamy, and has no vegetable fat in unlike Dairy Milk.

Lindt chocolate is lovely too, especially Lindor.

That's a weird website for chocs. No address on there and they only accept payment by paypal. Why can't they accept credit/debit cards? loulou39033.9731481482

Two posts and both of them to promote a website. Where do all these people find chocolatereview?

I probably shouldnt say but isn't that what Heavenly Truffles was doing?

Probably. There's nothing really wrong with that per se - I imagine it's how a lot of small caterers/confectioners start - but Heavenly Truffles has a proper website with address details, and the security of credit card payments.

so how come im the bad guy all of a sudden, i like the chocolates,so whats wrong in wanting to share it.

Its a chocolate review website, does what it says on the tin, and thats what i thought i was doing, you know reviewing a choccy site.

I like green and blacks chocolate too and i have bought chocolates from holdsworths chocolates, and chocolate heaven and thorntons.  Does that mean i'm working for them too. . .

Sorry guys, i thought this was somewhere i could share my views, i was sadly mistaken.

Okay, I'll take your word for it. If you want a tip, what made people suspicious is that your only posts at the time were both about this website and were virtually identical. People who repeat posts about the same website again and again are more often than not advertising it.

Not the dreaded Paypal. Buy using paypal then claim you didn't receive and get your money back.
