Title: Bonuses for battles
Post by: smurfboy on October 10, 2006, 02:37:05 pm
Members of the Armed Forces are now going to get bonuses if involved in particularly dangerous battles/front line duty. What shocked me about this news story was hearing that the average 'squaddie' (rank Private) earns just £15,000 a year - and that this is a significantly higher rate than in the US. What do you think of this?

I also heard that members of the armed forces serving abroad will not have to pay income tax.

I think that's fair. Why pay tax to a country you aren't living in?

I was shocked by this news too.  And I thought I was badly paid!
