I hate those, too hard.

My fave is the orange one.

Don't like any of them
Title: Revels question

I do think they are a bit overrated. Everyone seems to hate at least one of the flavours, plus the Maltesers found in them can be bought by themselves, and the Galaxy Counters are just Minstrels without the shell.

And a Mars bar is a Snickers without the peanuts but it definitely isn't the same.

I don't think the Glalxy Counter one is like a Minstrel without a shell. The Counter's chocolate has a smoother, creamier texture thatn the chocolate inside a Minstrel.

How can it be? It is made from Galaxy chocolate (hence why it has the word Galaxy in front of it) as do Galaxy Minstrels.
Title: Revels question
Post by: oldspice on September 10, 2006, 11:54:05 am
Yes, but the texture is different. I think the Galaxy Counters have a higher level of milk or vegetable oil in them. After all, at one time Minstrels (then called Treats) and Galaxy Counters used to be available as separate lines so they can't be that similar

Well - it was the bloody peanut, but of course it got discontinued!!! So - now it's the toffee, and i kind of have a love hate thing going on with the coffee one. Haven't had revels for ages - might have to go and buy some

Post by: Cherry_Ripe on September 11, 2006, 09:47:54 am
I wouldn't buy Revels as they have coffee ones in them. I would probably only eat the orange ones and the Galaxy counter anyway, so they would be my favourites.
Title: Revels question
Post by: smurfboy on September 11, 2006, 11:51:54 am
Anyway, I don't think I said my favourite. I can't decide between toffee, counter and raisin. Probably counter because you know what you're getting - with the others you can risk eating a coffee one by mistake.

That's why I don't buy them. I think if someone had a pack and offered me one I would go for the counter!

I haven't, but one of my former workmates used to ask me to nibble the chocolate on them, and if I found a coffee one to give it to her!

Now that's an offer you couldn't refuse.

Seriously though, couldn't you have just given her the coffee Revel?

There should be a mint cream revel or a strawberry revel I think.
Title: Revels question
Post by: on September 12, 2006, 09:13:26 am
You couldn't put the mint in with anything else as it would taint the other flavours.

True.
Title: Revels question
Post by: smurfboy on September 12, 2006, 01:03:55 pm
You say that, but I think orange can taint flavours too, and this doesn't seem to be a problem in Revels.
Title: Revels question
Post by: kevvosa on September 12, 2006, 03:03:15 pm
It depends how strong it is I think. A lot of minty products use mint oil which I think can easily taint things.

Going back to the 60s when revels was first launched, there used to be a Turkish Delight one. The Malteser wasn't in Revels then. The orange one went for a while, then came back.

It was in a pack of Cadbury's misshapes I bought the other week. All the toffees tasted of the orange crunch. To cap it all, over half were fudge too!

I support the coconut revel!!! Turkish delight sounds lush.

Now - i'm probably going to be controversial but...i think they should get rid of the malteser and minstrel type one - after all you can get them in packs on their own. Revels should be special

Bring back the peanut and the coconut one and leave out malteser and coffee.

It just annoys me that people moan about lack of variety in chocolate, but when anything other than caramel and nut bars appear in the New or Foreign products section it's suddenly 'ooh no, it sounds sickly'. Surely Fry's Five Centres and Milk Tray Bars 'sound' sickly - not to mention the sodding Cabana! Yet everyone wants them back...

I think people want innovation within milk chocolate though, not white chocolate. White chocolate is not peoples favourite choice (apart from me of course).
