Title: Golden Cup details
Post by: chris_murphy on September 03, 2006, 04:30:05 pm

Just to ease my mind, I need some details about Golden Cups.

Are these the chocolates that were vaguely egg-shaped and which split into two self-contained halves? Caramel and a nut inside each half? A sort of nut/wood-texture on the outside surface?

If I am not describing Golden Cups, what am I describing? I remember this from my youth but the name eludes me. I've tried to find a picture on the internet, but failed. It's driving me mad!

It isn't a Golden Cup. I do recall something like this but the name escapes me.

Anyone?

I think you are describing a Nutcracker and they were out in the 80s i think. Goldencup Bars go back much further. They came in two sizes, a treat size that was a slight dome shape with a flat bottom. The bar was covered in foil and was chocolate covered soft caramel. The larger bar was divided into sections. they were rather like Cadbury's caramel but the caramel was softer.

How did I miss this thread?    Anyway, Oldspice is absolutely correct, as one would expect.
