Do you have many? Do you prefer a hand-held bag or shoulder strap? Do you have one for each pair of shoes or do you try to fond one that goes with several outfits? Do you bother at all?
I have a little cloth bag with a lovely tapestry design that i got from Per Una (M&S) and I use it for most outings except for very formal dinners and events wearing very dressing evening wear is called for.
I would never pay more than £30 for a handbag.
BK how disappointing... I was sure you were a liberated guy with a 'manbag'
.
As for me I am one of theose people who seems to always be putting things int my handbag.. but rarely taking things out. Consequently my handbag weighs a ton! Well to be honest it did weigh 3kg recently. My son had some project for homework that invovled weighing recycling and his friend used the weighing meter (not sure that is the right name!) to weigh my bag. I was a little embarassed at 3kg
Contents include tissues, wet hand wipes, small umbrella, paracetamol, gaviscon, a purse full of lots of crud, but little cash! And about 20 lipsticks in a cosmetic bag... which is bizare as I tend to stick to the same 2 or 3, but I feel lost without them all incase of emergencies. Blimey wonder what a pyscologist would make of that one
What, no phone, address book, pen, Polos, perfume, spare tights, feminine spares or chocolate??
Incidently, why do we carry around loads of make-up we never wear 'just in case?' I hardly ever wear any but always carry two mascaras, three or four lipsticks, two shades of foundation (one for summer, one for rest of year) and a powder compact. What am I like???
just for BK!
I have quite a few handbags but find storing them a problem so I vowed not to buy more until I find a tidy way of keeping them.
My Mum's handbag is HUGE and is always full. Apart from all the usual stuff she always has something funny picked up from school in there (she teaches at an infant school) such as a green army man, or a hair scrunchie or something. I always joke that she has a hatstand and an anvil in there too

Was your mother's maiden name Poppins by any chance?
Oh Loulou you are a woman after my own heart, I too have many bags and have great difficulty weeding them for the charity bags etc. I too dream of a bag room, my friends just don't understand me!! My friend has a similar problem with shoes, although she is not as enthusiastic as I am with the bags. I don't colour co-ordinate so much although I do sometimes match my coloured bags to jewellery I wear. I know it's sad! I would love to own a Lulu Guiness one day, can't afford it yet though so it's back to the old Jane Shiltons for me
I do co-ordinate jewellery to clothes - I just have a horror of matching earrings and necklaces!
Like matching ties and hankies or - worse - matching ties and shirts a la 70s!!
Most of my jewellery is silver and I have a few strings of beads in various colours but not being a necklace wearer I usually just match my earrings with a bangle.
That's fine, that's just co-ordinating jewellery. I mean actual matching sets where the earrings are a smaller version of the necklace. This sort of thing:
What's wrong with that?
OK that was a bad example as I didn't really mind those. How about these?
You wouldn't catch me wearing those horrible earrings .
Me neither.
Smurfy, when you say matching ties and shirts are back in fashion, do you actually mean ties with the same pattern on as the shirt or just ties that are coloured co-ordinated with the shirt? i remember bright, patterned shirts with round collars and kipper ties in the same pattern and they were revolting.
Like this?
Or this?
No, but I've seen one I like in Topman.

I am speechless.
