Title: Cadbury shares new chocolate box
Post by: on August 07, 2006, 09:20:38 pm

[Cadbury is launching a new share box, featuring a number of tasty chocolate treats.

The new Cadbury Dairy Milk Special Variety box will include four flavours – the ever-popular Cadbury Dairy Milk, Praline, Truffle and Butterscotch, according to Checkout Magazine.

The box will retail at £2.49 and is expected to be popular, as many consumers tend not to buy indulgent snacks on their own and are more likely to purchase chocolates to share.

Head of customer relations at Cadbury Trebor Bassett, Mike Tipping, told Checkout Magazine: "The growth in 'everyday share' reflects the growing trend of consumers spending time together with friends and family.

"The introduction of another superb new product from Cadbury further enhances the confectionery offer within this fast growing sector."

The company is confident that sales will recover following the recent salmonella scare which caused Cadbury to recall over one million of its chocolate bars.

Sales fell by up to 14 per cent over recent weeks, although the company said that this was also partly down to the hot weather.]

The link doesn't work but they sound yum.

P.S. Cadbury's profits rose by 24% in the last six months. To paraphrase Mark Twain 'reports of their death have been greatly exaggerated'.

Is this true? I thought kids were spending more time on the 'net these days rather than with their family.

I think it's more older people (not pensioner old, I mean older than teenagers). People are spending far less on going out than they used to; therefore they might sit in with a DVD and a Cadbury share box instead of going to the cinema and getting popcorn.

Why not take a share box to the cinema?

They say you are not allowed to bring your own refreshments into the cinema any more. You have to pay their extortionate<--spelling?) prices instead.

£2.50 for a coke when you can by a couple of 2litre bottles for that price!

Jamsi, have you never wore a big jacket with inside pockets to the cinema?

You're right Jamsi, but I always take my bag with me and sneak food in.
Crisps, pop, tubs of ben and jerrys, mc donalds burgers, Ive managed to
smuggle all those in before.

That's nothing - I sneaked a four-course banquet and a magnum of champagne into Weekend at Bernies 2.

I would refuse to patronise any cinema that did not allow me to take in my own drink and a bag of  sweets. I would not allow them to search my bag either.

You're not supposed to do it, but I doubt they'd actually go as far as searching your bag.

I heard this news story recently about two young boys who were physically searched at their local Odeon for illegally bought in snack foods. It's disgusting. I'm sure if the 'food' on offer in cinemas was made more affordable then no-one would bother taking their own in.There is NO WAY i would pay a whole weeks wages for a popcorn combo.

What really bugs me though is that i recently went to a small independently run cinema and was charged £1 for a small tube of Pringles and a Coke....so there is really no excuse for large chains to overcharge.

I take my own sweets into the cinema. I'm not paying their prices.

These are two for £4 at Sainsbury's if anyone is interested. You can mix and match with Dairy Milk Share Boxes if you don't want to risk buying two of the new ones.
