Saw these in the chiller section in Morrisons. They look lush. There's a white chocolate one with a strawberry centre and vanilla sponge (or something), a milk choc and caramel one, and 2 others which I forget. They were over 2 pound per dessert so a bit pricey.
-
Sound nice. I will wait for a BOGOF or similar to try them.
-
Same here...if they ever do a BOGOF for them that is.
-
Get yourselves round the market!
-
I don't think they'll be selling them there just yet.
-
I have been eating quite a bit of Haagen Dasz recently! Strawberries and Creme is lush!
-
The chill cabinet manager at the Tesco I check admitted they are not selling well due to their price. If you know the time your local Tesco conducts its price reductions, BE THERE!
-
I have got many a bargain from Tesco and the Co-op!
-
Anyone else a closing time bargain hunter?
-
Me! Tescos recently had their blueberries down to 10p a box! The Co-op reduse their stuff right down as well. I got a kilo of lean mince for £1.40 the other week and Ginsters Pies down to 70p
-
I got a whole bag of bread rolls for tuppence once!
-

So they reduce things just before closing? I must admit I only ever buy
stuff like Ben & Jerry's or Hagen Daz if it's reduced.
-
Yes, but normally things like ice cream get reduced if they're a discontinued range or a few weeks away from their sell-by. It's fresh stuff that gets reduced at closing time.
-
Its uaully the fresh stuff like, fruit, veg, yogurts and bread which get reduced. Oh and meat.
The bread and meat are good cos it can be frozen. The fruit usually lasts a couple more days as well.
-
Apparently bakeries do the same just before they close.
-
I haven't witnessed that yet but I can quite well believe it. The bakery near me always has loads left at about 5pm when I go past.
-
my friend work in a bakery and according to "health and safety" they are not allowed to give out the leftovers. all them doughnuts going to waste!
-
Apparently they dump them and homeless people find them.
-
What a charmed idea.
-

I think that's right - a friend of mine used to collect loads of food from M & S at the end of the day and it went to the night shelter but I believe he's not allowed to do that any more.
-
I suppose with all this 'where there's blame, there's a claim' business a homeless person could theoretically sue.

Your friend apparently speaks bollocks too!
Ask her who told her that.
-
And you didn't even think to ask GC!
-
You can't sue from "No fixed abode"
-
Or from space.
-
Are you a lawyer?
-
Never.
-
Then how can you be so sure?
-
Intuition love.
-
Has anyone ever pissed on your face?

My friends husband works for a food company and they chuck so much food away a day. I think its such a waste as it could do to old peoples home, childrens homes etc. The staff are not even allowed to take it home.
-
They could give it to me then I would have to go shopping LOL
-
What a waste.

Its a disgrace. In this day and age when there are starving people all
over the world and they cant even let people have unused food. Maybe
they should make people sign an agreement that if they get ill because
of the food, they cant complain.

Now I didn't say it was Health & Safety did I (although admittedly it was in the quote). Just that I know somebody who for some reason is no longer allowed to redistribute M & S food at the end of the day.

Health and safety?!
I also do food hygiene/standards and communicable disease.
It's the FH I was alluding to.
-
So why would it be then? No good reason at all?
-
Companies just do not understand the concepts of hazard and risk properly.
-
-
My friend's mother died and left a freezer and cupboard full of food. My friend offered it to the homeless shelter but they would only accept the tinned food.

It is a disgrace. I think all that no win no fee compensation rubbish is to blame. My nan used to work in the Co-op way back and they used to be able to take damaged goods/near sell by daye food home. Guess times have changed.
-
My sister in law is a supervisor at Sainsburys and she says everything gets thrown away and the staff are not allowed to take anything open. At one time they used to pack all the cakes and bread and take them to old folks homes but no more.
-
Waste not, want not.
-
I would never waste good quality food.
-
These people who throw food out with two days to go before the use by date should be ashamed of themselves.
