Can you help me, i often reminisce about a chocolate bar i used to eat when doing my paper round 20 years ago. It was called Skippy, it had a blue wrapper with red and yellow writing. They where a bit thicker than a curly wurley with a biscuit base a thin layer of caramel all wrapped up with a coating of chocolate. I have searched on Google but cant find any references, all it came up with was some peanut butter bar.
Am i going mad?
-
No, I remember them. They were like a single Twix.
-
I've got a ruler with skippy on! :D

Cheers im glad somebody remembers them. After finding nothing on Google i was doubting my sanity!
-
I think I remember a Skippy bar.
-
I used to love them..they were like a very chewy 'Drifter' finger. I have been totally unable to find anything about their existence on the net...strange huh???
-
Whatever happened to... Skippy Bars?
Skippy bars
In the 1960's I used to eat a skippy bar almost every day.
When did they stop making them?
You are obviously not alone in missing them!
-
Whatever happened to Skippy anyway. Did he retire, die or just get fed up with rescuing stupid kids from down mines and simply went on strike?
-
Nope. I ate him at a restaurant a fortnight ago today <burp> and let me tell you he was bloody chewy, weren'tcha Skips?
-
Skippy the nosh kanagroo eh?
-
It does seem weird, i thought the internet knew everything about everything. Yet there is nothing on the web about the Skippy bars we all love. (Not the old nutty thing that some people might get mixed up with Or the animal for that matter)
Does anybody know of any choc bar wrapper collectors, they might be able to give us a picture, just for old times sake!
-
There are actually lots of bits and pieces on the internet about Skippy bars (one I quoted earlier). Just nothing official and no picture.
-
Try Skippypaedia!
-
If you have found anything on the net could you give me some links. The only "Skippy" information i can find is either about the peanut butter Skippys or Skippy the Bush Kangaroo.
TVCream.org has a small mention.
Golden cup, What was the Skippy bar like that you ate in the 60's. Is it the same as the 1 im asking about from the 80's?
-
I absolutely loved SKIPPY and can almost taste it now. BRING IT BACK. Who made skippy?
-
Never heard of them. If anyone finds them, I'll happily be a taster.
-
Really? Even though the last one was made about thirty years back?
-
How do you know that they're not still making it? Somewhere there might still be a factory.
-
Uh-huh. There are 10-15 regulars on here who would eat anything (almost) chocolate. We tend to scour shops/sites for new products. I think we would know if it was available.
-

Yes, a special, secret factory that a) no one knows about and b) does not distribute its products into any shops.

You must be thinking of something different, the bars im talking about were around in the 80's. Read the above posts for a description. I hate peanuts and anything else nutty, that’s why i tried to make sure people are thinking of the same thing as me. I definitely am NOT talking about the nutty Skippy’s i don’t even know of a nutty Skippy bar, they were in the 60's from what i can figure out.
I wasn’t around then!
-
Well thirty years or twenty, I think the point remains the same.
-
They might be available in another country. You NEVER know.
-
Well actually I do. They were made by Cadbury and Cadbury have a list of brands on their site and the countries in which you can buy them.
-
My earlier post was from somebody else on here who apparently ate a Skippy bar every day in the 60's. It wasn't me. I researched them for somebody on another site and then found the quote about them being like a single Twix or Drifter. This person was eating them in the 80s in the UK and agreed with the description. It's just a question of determined Googling that I don't feel like doing all over again - sorry!
-
Yes, that arthritis in your hands doesn't get any better with googling, does it GC?
-
I do have arthritis in one hand actually.
-
Oops! That's backfired on me. Sorry.
-
Actually, I'm surprised I don't have it too. Mind you, my eyesight is getting worse..........
