The historian David Irving has been jailed for three years for saying the holocaust never happened - in a speech he made 17 years ago. While I agree it was a dreadful and horribly ignorant thing to say, surely that makes him a stupid, nasty person rather than a criminal? Does he really deserve the same prison sentence a rapist would serve?

I feel more sorry for the student who got fined £80 for being overheard saying "F*ck" in the street.

I don't actually feel sorry for Irving - I just think it shows up how political incorrectness is almost considered as much a crime as rape or GBH!

Yeah it is in todays Metro - i couldnt believe it! Apparently some WPC overheard the students talking about what they had planned for the evening. One said "F*ck all" and she collared him and gave him an on the spot £80 fine!!

As if to highlight my point, the main story on the lunchtime news is that a man who hit and killed a toddler whilst speeding in a stolen car has been sentenced to just three MONTHS.
